I've had people tell me what a great time it is, but every time I've been there on a Wednesday when the Par 3 starts, it's always just seemed like a good time to hit the pro shop and then head for the car and beat the crowd.
I agree. I took my in-laws in 2005. I was honestly excited to be able to show it to them. I was worried I had hyped it too much. By the time we left that day, they assured me I had not.
Hope it is warmer for you tomorrow than it was for me today. If the sun was out and the wind died down, it was ok. Too bad that lasted about 30 minutes.
Tiger played 0 holes today and 5 yesterday. Putted for 30 minutes and hit balls for about an hour.
Mickelson played 18 with Kittleson. (U.S. Am runner-up) Pretty cool that he would do that. There may have been 5 to 10 players that actually played a full 18 today. I give Phil some props for that. I know that happens all the time, but he seemed to have a genuine interest in helping the kid out even in the wind and cold.
I enjoyed my first visit, and I hope to go back a little more regularly. Now, I just got to get warm again.
Since I started playing golf quite often last year I have become even more interested in golf on the TV. I always watched the Majors but now I watch at least parts of any Tour event on a given weekend. I cannot wait for the Masters this year. I think it has some of the most interesting storylines ever going into the tournament. It helped me watching some of the Masters specials on Golf Network and a couple of others I've saw since this weekend. Plenty of drama going in that's for sure.
Oh, not to derail Masters talk but if anyone reads this I would like to ask anyone in this golf topic if they have played at Baneberry here in East TN in Dandridge or at Woodlake in Tazewell? Those are the next two courses on my radar to try out at the moment.
I love Tiger's interview yesterday. Someone asked him what advice he would give the gas station owner who was a professional and playing in the Masters. He said, "Hit them straight and long, get on the green and then make your putts." He smiled, shrugged his shoulders and said, "What else would I say?"
From the title, I assume he made it while he skipped it across the pond?
That really ticks me off since I sat there most of the day. I walked the course first thing when I got there, but spent the majority of my time on 16. So few groups were on the course we gave up and decided to see if Tiger would actually ever show up. I saw 2 guys come pretty close to making it while skipping it across the pond. Phil sucked at it, btw.
