Anyone ever own any Big Bertha 2004 irons? My buddy has a set (3-10 and W) that he is willing to sell me for about $250. I played a round with them and liked them, just wondering if anyone has ever had any problems out of them.

Went to Millstone today. It was weird because we had planned on going all week until yesterday when they said there was a 100% chance of rain all day today. Then this morning I looked at the forecast when I got up and saw no rain and they had changed it to no rain until tonight. We got an online tee time and went off at 2:30 this afternoon.

Place wasn't very crowded and it is an extremely nice course. The only thing was that they had just arriated the greens so putting was a bit on the interesting side. I shot a 92 - mad at myself. I broke 90 for the first time about 2 weeks ago now so I don't know why I'm really angry. I guess its because if I could eliminate about 4 really bad shots I would have shot in the mid 80s but alas that's the game of a duffer I suppose.

We both really enjoyed the course and the fact that it is very diverse with six each of the Par 3s, 4s, and 5s. Will definitely go back in the later spring or early summer when the bermuda grass stars to come in more. Of the area courses I have played so far this one rates just behind Graysburg and ahead of all of the other local courses I've been to.

Our next two golf outings will take us to Baneberry in Dandridge and then Woodlake in Tazewell.

it's not even worth getting worked up over if you're playing freshly aerated greens. i hope you didn't pay full price.

Who cares what everyone else likes? You like em and hit em well, own em.

DND, i assumed you used golfnow.com?

i just tried to pull up a tee time for tomorrow morning to see if they had any kind of warning on the site about freshly punched greens and they didn't. i understand that aerification is a necessarily evil, but i think it's pretty crappy when courses do that and fail to even notify you before you get to the course or walk on to the green at #1. surprise or not, i just look at it as an opportunity to practice live irons and wedge shots. i'll even drop an extra ball or too per hole since i won't be putting.

i've noticed golfnow.com is notorious for that. what did you pay a round and do you have any idea what normal green fees are?

I used Golfnow.com yes. I have saw warnings on their website about aeriated greens on some other courses but there was no warning about Millstone. We paid the discounted price for there but nothing cheaper than that. It would have been nice to know that they were doing it beforehand but at least now when I go back I know the course layout and how to play some of the wood and iron shots.

Could have been the reason there were no more people playing too. I thought at first it had more to do with the crappy weather forecast. We paid the $22 and change per person fee with the discount. I assume that's what it always is there if you use golfnow.com.

Played for the first time in over a year on Sunday. Shot as well as I ever have. 55 on a par 35 9 hole. I can certainly handle that. Probably would have shot better than that if the course hadn't been an absolute s***hole.

Aw, crap. A buddy and I are going to Millstone tomorrow afternoon. I could have sworn that they put up the little A! aeration warning on GolfNow about a month ago, which is why we haven't gone there earlier in the year, assuming the greens should be in good shape by now. WTF?

Just how recently punched did they appear to be? Totally unputtable?

Honestly I haven't played on aeriated greens too often so I might not be the best to tell you. It "appeared" to me that it had been done fairly recently - maybe not this week or anything but within the last couple of weeks at least. I putted fairly decently considering all things. I sank about a 30 foot putt and put a 40 footer within 2 feet from the hole. Of course it could have been pure blind luck too.

Thanks for the heads-up. Millstone has some of the best (and fastest) greens in the area when they're in great shape. I'm already mentally adding some speed to my putts. Been playing like crap lately, so if I break 90 I'll be overjoyed.

Off to Hilton Head tomorrow for the Heritage. It's blasphemy to say this, but I think I enjoy going to the Heritage more than the Masters.

That's crazy talk. I enjoy Harbor Town and everything about Hilton Head, but that just sounds insane.
