I can't think of the Heritage without thinking of Davis Love. Seems like he has won it so many times that they should just go ahead and name the trophy after him.

I think of Sindelar. Played a round with him there in the late 90s, when he wasn't carrying a driver and was driving it with a 2 iron most of the day.

So how often were you outdriving him with the driver?

Aw, crap. A buddy and I are going to Millstone tomorrow afternoon. I could have sworn that they put up the little A! aeration warning on GolfNow about a month ago, which is why we haven't gone there earlier in the year, assuming the greens should be in good shape by now. WTF?

Just how recently punched did they appear to be? Totally unputtable?

How did your round go? Was the greens worse or better than you thought they'd be?

That's crazy talk. I enjoy Harbor Town and everything about Hilton Head, but that just sounds insane.

Come to think of it, the only thing I really enjoy about HH anymore is the fried shrimp at The Crazy Crab. Otherwise, my favorite courses are off the Island, and the traffic is deplorable even with the "by pass".

I stayed a few minutes longer than I planned today so that I could watch Love, Weekley and Flesch play 18. Love hit a beautiful approach from about 170 in a screaming crosswind to about 20 feet and drained it for birdie.

Also saw that guy from the Big Break that wears 2 gloves hit an insane escape shot on the 10th.

I blame psychology. The greens HAD been fairly recently punched, but puttable. Bumpy, and quite a bit slower than what I'm accustomed to at Millstone, but puttable. That being said, I had, quite literally, the worst putting round I've had in YEARS, and consequently, the worst score I've shot in a long, long time. (putting, incidentally, is one of my game's "strengths," as it were, if it's possible for a 16-handicapper to have "strengths.") Blocked just about every drive weak, high and right, for good measure.

I still love the course, especially for that price, and now want nothing more than to go back and kick its miserable ass.

Anybody use the Ping G5 irons, or Ping irons in general? If so, tell me what you think of them...I'm thinking about getting a set of those soon...

I played the Ping ISI's for a long time, in fact I still have them
A co-worker plays the G5's and loves them

take 'em out for a demo, and see how you like them

yeah i'll probably end up doing that. I just wanted a quick opinion though, thanks a lot for the info.

Hitting a new driver that I believe has actually supplanted old faithful.

It's a TM R7 Limited TP with Rombax 75x shaft. I could not be happier with it so far. I knew these knew clubs did the trick, but I had no idea that the carry would be so much longer. It's almost ridiculous.

The way they are now creating Drivers that optimize launch angles is crazy. Now everybody with a remotely decent golf swing can get it out there whether they generate clubhead speed or not.

I keep toying with the idea of saving up money with for a new driver, but I am too happy with the results of my 905T.

As for G5 irons, I still play the I3 blade version and love their feel. The G series were made to get the ball in the air, which is not a worry for me. Hit 'em and if you like 'em, buy 'em. Who cares what someone else thinks of your clubs?

i don't have any desire to own a new R9 or Sumo driver nor do i have any desire to play with somebody who does.

i think being able to change your club head angle in the middle of a round is cheating and i'm pretty liberal when i play.

I got the same one at a local golf galaxy a few weeks ago also. I couldn't be happier with it. While I was there, i also tried out the r9, but i just felt more comfortable and felt better with the r7 limited.

Being able to and actually doing it are two different things. Changing the characteristics of a club in the middle of a round is most definitely cheating and should never be done.

That's pretty much my tact as well, but when you hit one of the new Drivers and it blows your mind how forgiving they are.
