people can say what they want, but Tiger was never really contending in the US Open. All the TV people just wanted him to be.

The winning score ended up at -3 and he was standing on the 15th tee at -1. The way guys tend to backup at a US Open, anyone that was under par was in contention.

Sorry, I hate Tiger Woods. And he hasn't really contended in a Major all year. Yes he put on a show at the Masters, but other than that, I haven't been impressed.
Seriously? He has finished top 5 in both majors this year.

Can't tell you the last time he was outside the top 10 in a stroke play tournament.

He may not have truly been in contention to win, but he finished t6.

Tiger's play this season:
TigerWoods.com: On Tour: Schedule & Results

World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship - t17th
World Golf Championships-CA Championship - t9th
Arnold Palmer Invitational - 1st
The Masters Tournament - t6th
Quail Hollow Championship - 4th
THE PLAYERS Championship - 8th
the Memorial Tournament - 1st
U.S. Open Championship - t6th
AT&T National - 1st

Not sure why it has him in 2nd for the AT&T...he won it.

He is just terrible (sarcasm)....there is a reason the ratings go up when he is playing. He totally dominates the best golfers in the world. He may not win everytime he plays, but he is nearly ALWAYS in contention on Sunday.

with too many people in front of him that we never even got to see take shots because we got to watch Tiger talk to Stevie instead. He wasn't going to win and he wasn't a favorite at any point during the week

How many shots by Glover, Duval, Barnes and Mickelson did they miss? I can't think of any.

Bill -

You are right, but Tiger = ratings

Sorry to disappoint those that hate the guy, but if he is playing you are going to see him. He doubles and triples ratings. It would be bad business to not show him.

Won a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 today in a putting contest. Like it but I am putting great with my mizuno bc-2. I just started using Plumb bob to read my puts and it is great. Anybody else do this?

I rarely if ever do it. Maybe I use it if I just can't believe what I'm reading and I want confirmation of which way a slope is going. I've just always read greens by walking around. I try to first look at the "big picture" as I walk onto the green. Sometimes if your first look is from behind the ball, you get fooled.

It is Jack and Jill weekend at my club. That is one of my favorite weekends of golf each year. My wife plays, as she has for about 20 consecutive years, with her father. That means I get to avoid slow tournament couples golf with no chance of winning in typically blazing hot weather (although it is storming now,) and I still get to feel wronged for not getting invited to play.

It is truly one of those rare win/win situations.

it would be nice if the winner of our country's women's U.S. Open could learn enough English to at least get through the interview without the help of a translator.

That has pretty much been shot down already.

that doesn't change the fact it would be nice to hear.

they should be required to learn English, just not be banned from the Tour if they don't, like was previously suggested.

a fine would be suitable, but that probably won't happen in PC America either.

That is stupid.....watch it because of the great shots, not the interviews.

Angel Cabrarra does'nt speak alot of english....no questions about him?

I watched the interview, and I got the impression that the translator wasn't there as much for Ji as for the LPGA or the networks. She started to respond to several questions without his assistance, but he broke in and repeated the question in Korean, and she responded in Korean. I was actually glad she won by the time it was finished, as I thought she showed a lot of grit on the back and really just outplayed the hell out of the field except for one stray drive on the short par 4.

As a side note, I know it is the week before the British, but it is pretty sad that I chose to watch women's golf over the Deere, the Scottish, and whatever was happening for the Seniors. Believe me, that says much more about the quality of men's tourneys this week than it does my affinity for the ladies' game.
