The Golf Thread

You seem a bit outdated here. The opens have lesser fields because the nature of an open allows for qualifiers.

The Masters new invite method and Players make them the best fields. I hear you on the PGA, but its field is no better than the two I listed. 98 of the top 100 means diddly.

You are wrong...I'm a PGA Member and know for a FACT it has the strongest field in Golf!

I'm playing whatever they call the Springhouse course tomorrow, and I'm hoping to get a ticket to Golf Club of Tennessee on Wednesday (otherwise it'll be Hillwood.)

Let's just hope I can keep it on this planet with the 1 wood. If I can do that, I think I'll be fine.

As for the "toughest field" discussion, I'm going out on a limb and say that after Friday afternoon, it is almost certainly a 4 way tie.

Shot 47/41 at Gaylord Springs today. I misclubbed twice on the front which resulted in balls in hazards, but overall, I hit it pretty well and generally looked like I knew what I was doing on and around the greens. Aside from a few pock-marked greens, the course was in great shape, and I had forgotten how much I like the layout. We even finished in about 4 hours.

GC of Tennessee will have to wait; I had to come back to the Bluegrass state for a meeting in the morning.

Anyone here hit a Ping Rapture v2?

I ordered one today on TGW.com. Went under their returns/demos section and got it for $252 shipped. They are $399 new + shipping.

heard lots of good stuff on the G10, but nothing on the Rapture..
I have a G10 now, it is sweet.

I have been told the Rapture is even better. I got a good deal on it, so if I don't like it I won't lose that much selling it :)

I have that same problem...

but after changing drivers all the time, someone told me

"it's the indian not the arrow"

Enjoyed a round at Tennessee National today...we played 18 and never saw another golfer. They just finished a women's am tourney and the course was immaculate (and the rough was brutal). The greens were the best I've ever played on. Plus, I went out in 40, which is good for me. 46 on the back with a couple of bad breaks.

I also got a new Taylor Made Tour Burner hybrid with the VooDoo shaft....it's awesome. Plus, I can choke down and leave the 3 iron in the closet.

Anyone ever played the Brickyard Crossing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway? doozer?

Watching the race today I started wondering if that was a public or private course.

no, i have not played but i would LOVE to. i've never been able to time it right. i'm either there for a race or for the holidays. December is not a good time for golf in Indiana.

it's public, and in the summer they run a twilight special of something like 50 bucks after 4 pm.

you make the "turn" inside the speedway. i passed out one year during the Snoozeyard 400 by the 10th green. true story.

After hitting it in the right general direction for a couple of weeks, I blew up on the second 9 yesterday. Suddenly the driver began to alternate between the fanned push-slice and the line-drive rope-hook. I really should have quit after the 11th hole, as after that it was a study in how not to put a swing back together.

I always swear I'm going to start doing this in March, and always seem to put it off until August, but it is time to get some professional help.
