The Golf Thread

I just got back from playing The Quarry in San Antonio. What a great course! Compared to numerous other ones I have played while ive been down here, this has to be top 3. Greens and fairways were great, esp. considering the drought south tx is having.

Shot a 94...all in all, had a great time.

Still not comfortable with some guy chasing me down in the parking lot and brining a cart and insisting he put my bag on it, then drive it to the warm up area. Im not that special, and I am a grown man. I can carry my clubs the 40 yards or so!

Playing the TPC Deere Run, in Silvis, IL...The site of the John Deere classic..

a former co worker from Bentonville's going to be in the quad cities, so I'm taking the day off and driving over for a round

Is the game of golf really hard to pick up?

easy to pick up, hard to stick with. It's extremely easy to get frustrated and say "to hell with it"

Just gotta clean up your clubs and get out there the next day.

Then you get your first par, and you spend a lot of money on new stuff.

Rinse and repeat.

Fun track, but much better the second time around when you know some of the distances across the chasms.

It's also hard to not entirely suck for any extended period of time without some skill and a modicum of focused effort.

Got to play Spring Island (around HH) on Monday. I also "inherited" a new set of X-20s. I must say a course like that still brings out the best in my game. I didn't set the world on fire, but I didn't embarrass myself either, especially considering that I was playing out of someone else's bag.

i played last sun for the first time since breaking my ankle in march. didn't really keep score, but i did have 4 pars. i think this sunday, i'll be happy with 6 and a bird.
