The Golf Thread

He actually took the high road, in the follow up interview after he heard the comments where Mcarron blasted him

he said he was surprised that people "slandered" him publicly. not really sure what he thought would happen when he showed up with a club in his bag that, while indeed legal, is certainly questionable in regard to the new rule.

poor Phil, getting attacked in the media...boo hoo...give me a break.

however, i would have been stockpiling those things for years had i known this was going to happen.

which would make him an even bigger schmuck than he already is. a lawsuit? really? REALLY?

if he wanted to settle this, all he needs to do is invite McCarron over to his house for a talk about winning major championships.

McCarron is on the player advisory council. Obviously, he shouldn't have used the word cheating. In golf, there is no greater insult. However, several players must be voicing their disapproval for McCarron to come out so strongly. And, they do have a point. Golf is a gentleman's game, and we typically govern ourselves.

Its a loophole that I myself would not want to take advantage of, but Mickelson was using the wedges before the rule was in effect. Ultimately, I think it falls on Mickelson to do what he thinks is right and McCarron is trying to persuade him.

Cheating was just a poor choice of words

the pissing and moaning over the groove changes is getting really old.

i'd play on tour with only a lob wedge for what some of these guys get paid.

I'm ready for the rain and snow to stop, the sun to come out, and the grass to turn green so that I can resume my mission of filling up the pond on number 5 with golfballs.

there's an everything must go super mega closeout clearance sale in Knoxville this weekend. i'd reccomend making the trip down there. open untill 6 today and 10-4 tomorrow. there's a lot of junk but some good deals.

i picked up a set of Titleist 740s for next to nothing. they're used obviously, but i think i'm going to be happy with them.

me too, but afraid, I've got a little longer to wait than most that post on here

Normally, I have a rule against playing in long sleeves, and I really tend away from playing in long pants. That rule has occasionally, with good reason (such as a ticket to Medinah,) been broken. I think a screaming infant at home may be another good reason to break it.

Repeatedly.

No kidding. When I read that Tiger was set to earn $100MM last year without ever hitting a golf ball, I started googling Jr. club sets.

I just hope he gets his talent from his mother.

All this time I thought you were talking golf. I had no idea you were talking about the garden hose trick. Next question: why do you care if your son can suck a golf ball through said hose?
