The Golf Thread

I'm with GaVol, it's typically more of a swing issue/flaw.

Picture your target line (where ball is at rest to where you want your ball to land) as home plate to center field in baseball. If you're hitting a draw/hook more than likely it's all in the timing of your release. As a swing thought think of swinging "out" to right field (right-handed golfer). You want to exaggerate the feeling of holding the club square before releasing.
Different things work for different folks, but it seems to me that telling a guy fighting a hook to swing more out on the ball is kind of like telling a stripper she can solve her problems by taking her clothes off faster.

The amount of Tiger swing discussion is destroying the telecasts. They literally dissect every swing he makes.

Tiger is at his best when he owns his swing. Cut the thousand swing thoughts. Hit the baby cut and stomp the driver.

He's falling victim to the amateur issues. Too many swing thoughts eff with even the world's greatest.

I agree.

He did look like a 30 handicap in the bunker yesterday.

But, I do like the more centered pattern.

I agree and disagree.

JN is a great example. Rarely if ever modified his swing. His swing gradually changed as he got older, but besides the one check-up a year to Jack Grout, he didn't over analyze much of anything.

It's hard not to get analytical with the new ball flight laws (D-Plane), swing planes, Mac O'Grady System (MORAD), The Golfing Machine, all of the training aids, 21st century technology and on and on...

It's just part of the tour nowadays.

Takeaway is back to old Butch looking. I like it and the swing just looks more natural.

Those two he left in at greenside were bad, but he has now chunked two from fairway traps.

Don't know if you saw Kostis and Faldo looking at that swing he made with a three wood, where his feet were closer together and he was essentially reverse pivoting. Something about Foley doesn't want him moving off the ball as he has in the past.

Major changes are happening and need to. Haney destroyed what was a beautiful swing.

I've got no issue with the swing monitors. But the problem is many of the young golfers today have become too dependent on it.

But why not? It's all target golf and they aren't manipulating shots much any more, so do all you can to hit it higher and straighter, then putt it up.

Heading to their range now all you see is basically a bunch of high bombs with almost no left or right. It's like they're all Lanny now.

Agreed.

Kostis is a joke, like Haney. If you're not following his teachings, you're doing it wrong. Faldo can be insightful, but ranting on and on about how Tiger is "Stacked" gets slightly old.

Didn't catch the analysis, but that wouldn't be surprising.

Foley is 2x the coach that Haney is. I have no doubt that Tiger will be back in action.

He was recruiting a friend of mine to come play for him when he was coaching and his recruiting visit was filled with talk of his new draw.

Haney is right where he belongs. Teaching his crap to celebrities that can't break 100.

That's why you've got a bunch of guys who are inconsistent as hell. Especially in majors and Ryder Cup. I know the game has changed a ton. But there's still that special place in my heart for the guys who work the ball.

I guess it's because I are one.

Hope Big John holds it together today, would be a stretch for him to catch up to the leaders, but a top 10, or 5 would be great

I didn't say he had to take my advice just giving my 2 cents worth like everyone else.

Bro, you told a guy complaining about snappy to swing from further inside. Seems an odd prescription.

Please explain? I didn't say anything about swinging from further inside. I simply said to feel as though you are swinging out to right field, which promotes holding the club face open longer.

Club face angle and club path are entirely independent from what I've heard.

I noticed that. However, I'm more excited to see Double D at -5 and only 5 back. Would love to see him get a top ten or even sneak into the top 5.
