The Golf Thread

I've been golfing for about 6-7 years and I never felt this way. I've always bought cheaper clubs (hell my last set of irons was $125).

While it may be expensive to start (buying clubs), its relatively cheap to play (unless you're trying to play on a killer course). It is quite time consuming though if you play 18.

I got custom fit for everything but my 3 wood when I came back from Afghanistan in '11. Only clubs I've replaced since then are the wedges (too much wear and tear), the driver (upgraded from a Titleist 910 D3 to the 913 D3 for a mere $30) and I did finally upgrade the three wood (bought a Burner TP a year after it came out for $75). But doozer is right about a lot of people. In the end though, I think it's biggest problem is that it's just flat out hard.

PGA Tour, correct. However........

2001: Jason Bohn (58) Canadian Tour Bayer Championship
2010: Ryo Ishikawa (58) Japan Tour at The Crowns
2016: Stephan Jaeger (58) Web. Com Tour Ellie Mae Classic

The thing that really makes incredible is that this was no easy setup where -25 won.

I just recently bought my first set of irons in about 12 or 13 years. I got a used set of Mizuno JPX 825 Pro forged cavity backs. I grew up playing small headed , low offset irons, and I like the looks of these. They do tend to dig a little easier than the wider sole irons I have been using, and I fatted a couple in wet conditions.

I shot a 59 once, that still sticks in my craw. I was about 18 I think, and played in a Par 3 tournament in my hometown. I was tied for the lead after the first 2 rounds, and shot a 5 over par 59 in the 3rd and final round, and lost by 3.

I think I finished 3rd. I hit just about every green, and 3 putted several times. Basically, I choked my guts out. I was so nervous, I must have missed 6 or 7 putts under 5 feet, including a couple of 2 footers.

It's hard. They need to make it easier for those who chose to play that way.

Does anyone have a net at home they would recommended?

I've looked at a few, the vast majority are more than I'm willing to spend or look like they'll be destroyed in a few weeks. I'm thinking of just getting some impact netting and building an EMT frame.

Wow, Bubba just out did himself. I've watched a lot of golf, and his putt on 14 was probably the worst effort I've ever seen!

The announcers later said that a piece of mud fell off his putter, and he tried to stop his stroke on the downswing. He hit a 25 footer about 4 or 5 feet.

For the folks that didn't see it, the 25 foot putt didn't stop 4 or 5 feet short. It only went 4 or 5 feet. It does look like he tried to stop his stroke to me.

Y'all think All the Olympic drop outs are kicking them self? This looks like an awesome tournament and I think Zika fears are not as they seem. I guess we'll know if any golfers have the virus in the next couple weeks. I feel winning a medal compares to a major and winning gold exceeds it.

I think the players there think it and people will realize it after a few more olympics. I can't imagine how ruckus crowds will be in golf developed countries.
