The Golf Thread

Very sad to hear. I typically don't let many celebrity deaths affect me, but the loss of both David Bowie and now Arnie isn't easy. Would've loved to see both in their primes.
I saw Arnie several times in his. He was 35 the first time I saw him play in person.

Dooz,

We need a recap.

Also, exciting first day. Stenson is just nasty. Feels weird pulling for Patrick Reed too.

Jones course is pretty legit. However, a round of golf should not take 4.5 hours on a Sunday at 3. Still I enjoyed, particularly the holes playing along the road. The green on the ocean was rather unimpressive to me. Much better holes throughout.

Crescent Point had terrific greens and was cool playing a Palmer Signature course this week in particular. Typical thick rough, though not high, that seems to make up the inland courses I've played along the South Carolina coast and sand literally everywhere. Fairways were super soft, which was odd given the lack of rain (at least to my knowledge). I definitely scooped a few shots which I usually never do, so maybe it was me, but damn it sure seemed weird to do that. Plus, the pro shop was BOGO on all apparel so I grabbed a nice shirt and sweater combo.

Poseidon is fantastic.

Crescent Pointe can turn into target golf in some places, but I really like that one. Glad you liked Poseidon. That's become one of my go to places when we go down there.

Even more jealous now

I heard that listening outside while staining some furniture and thought it fit

Reed's not as pouty as Sergio

Oh I beg to differ. He's more pouty. He whined multiple times this year about not being considered in the DJ, Jason Day, Rory, Spieth conversation despite having won nothing of significance

that's true, about thinking he's top 5, I just haven't seen the melt downs from him like we have Sergio
and I'd still like to see Sergio win a Major or two...his putting just kills him, he absolutely flushes his irons

Golf finally making a change worth noting. The Zurich Classic will be a 2 man team format with the players getting the opportunity to pick their partner. Look forward to seeing the product on the course.

Already have Fowler/Day & Stenson/Rose teams.

How Jason Day and Rickie Fowler just made the Zurich Classic a must-see PGA event - CBSSports.com

The format will be alternate shot in Rounds 1 and 3 and best ball in Rounds 2 and 4. Much like we saw at the Ryder Cup earlier this season. Golfers will get to split prize money and FedEx Cup points based on how they finish as a team.

Played Monday...nothing better than golf over New Years....

It had been a few weeks, so, I went with my 280 yard stinger, keep in the fairway, off the tee swing :)

I'm playing 9 tomorrow and will be playing 36 this weekend with the grandfather. Hopefully I can duplicate what I was doing the other day
