The Golf Thread

Correct. I would call it "occasionally" rather than "all the time" though

Two different things too. Sergio signed an incorrect card. He didn't FORGET to sign. Wie's exlanation was pathetic "I don't know how it happened". She is a joke and WILL NEVER be a significant player on LPGA tour
She putts it well and she will be a monster on that tour.

it's way too early to say that, and obviously no one is as perfect as you, so don't expect Wie or anyone else to be. Mistakes happen, what else do you want her to say? It's not like she intentionally didn't sign it, so reason would point out that she has no idea how she forgot to sign it.

I'm not saying Wie will be a dominant force in the LPGA nor that she is a bright golfer. But she knows she's supposed to sign it and didn't. She forgot, she thought she had, etc. Her excuse is the truth, if you even want to call that an excuse. If it's not good enough for you, get off your high horse.

There is no high horse here. It has been a series of stupid screw-ups with her. I can't really blame her as much as her idiot Dad for making the poor decisions for her. However, she took the big money and then went to Stanford(where she should be playing college golf if not for her idiot father). She accepted exemptions to men's events she had NO business accepting at the urging of her idiot father. I actually feel sorry for her. She is the product of ignorant parents at this point. As she gets older and starts making her own decisions, it is likely you won't see as many screw ups and poor decisions. People gave Phil Knight a hard time for the money he paid Jordan in the mid-eighties. He laughed at them all the way to the bank. People gave Phil Knight a hard time for the money he gave Tiger in the mid-nineties. He laughed at them all the way to the bank. While those others worked out for him.....a thousand times over, this one hasn't. Since she signed for the big money endorsements, she hasn't sniffed at success. The other players her age (Morgan Pressel, all the Parks, Paula Creamer) have all improved their games and will hand her azz to her any day. Wie's game has REGRESSED over the past couple of years.

You can tell me to get off my high horse all you want, I don't care, but I am right.

she has nothing to prove to me. She has EVERYTHING to prove to her peers

she's 18 and probably just now becoming fully developed as a golfer. it's pretty hard to write her off as a failure.

I think that Wie will still eventually be a very good golfer, probably about the time she meets some guy and decides that her parents aren't the only people in the world...

back on topic, I find it hilarious that we are writing off an 18 year old in the game of golf. She has so much potential in front of her.

I'm darn sure not writing her off. She's long and relatively straight with a solid short game. She has struggled some from 5 feet and in, or she's already have a couple majors to her name.

Well...its good to see we can have pissing matches in the golf thread as well. Sometimes it is just too calm around here.

Went and played 9 holes this afternoon, I had 4 straight pars, but they were book ended by "5 WTF why did i hit it there" holes.

I think I am ready to play a little nicer courses, I am not worried about hitting houses that line the fairways anymore

It's way, way, way too hot right now RTE. I recommend Wedgewood as your next course. It's fairly open and in decent shape this year.
