The Grill and BBQ thread

My natural gas grill died after 10 years and now I’m looking for a replacement. I grill a lot so I don’t mind putting more money into a real quality grill that will last me atleast another 10 years. I’m looking for atleast 5-6 burners and a price range of 2-3k. I’d love to find something cheaper, but I haven’t seen many that are a great quality for under that and I’ve been saving up for this for a while knowing it was going to happen soon. Lynx, fire magic, blaze, Napoleon and Weber are the manufacturers I’ve seen and it seems Lynx, Fire Magic and Blaze are outside my price range for what I want. The Weber I’m looking at is the S-670, their top of the line grill. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

OK fellow smokers and grillers I need some help.

I'm going to a SB party next Sunday and I'm in charge of cooking the babyback ribs. I won't have access to my Egg or smoker...only an oven and a 3 burner Weber gas grill. It's been a long time since I've cooked ribs on anything but a smoker.

My thought was to put the rub on, double wrap in foil, and bake them on low for a few hours. After that, I'm stumped. I was thinking of setting up the grill with a smoke pack and finishing them on the Weber (unwrapped) until they pull away from the edge. Finish with a thin glaze and let it set up.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Well?

If you're going to spend that kind of money get a BGE or similar. I gave away my Weber gas grill after I started using my BGE.

I have a Broil King I really like.

Sorry....been a rough week. The SB party turned into a cluster f*** as 4 people were sick. I still made ribs but let them finish them how they wanted as I simply dropped them off.

The plastic wrap/ foil at low oven temp worked like a champ for tenderness and ease of clean-up.

I suggested to my friend he simply heat them up on the grill, bone side down and add a little sauce if they wanted.

Thanks to all for the help!

Probably a wise decision.
"Oh, you have the flu? Here are your ribs, bye!" :)

Anyone ever smoke lamb breasts? I've got a few I'm gonna cook on Friday and looking for ideas. My thoughts were to smoke and then braise in wine, garlic, and herbs. Thoughts?

Good call. There's a surprising amount of connective tissue in them, so the braise finish is a great idea. Allow time for a lo-o-o-ong cook.

I already have a rec tec grill, and 3 Masterbuilt Electric Smokers. A friend of mine has a BGE that I can use anytime and when he decides to upgrade he already said I can have it. Even with the stuff I have I also really like the way a natural gas grill cooks and how easy and fast it is.

:good!:

You're way more serious about cooking than I am.

Also threw a half rack of ribs (and a few butts) on for good measure. :)

Dam looks real good cali, makes me want to get the smoker going. If only the weather would cooperate.

This is why I love my rec tec. I have a covered patio in my backyard and my rec tec sits on it. Never have to worry about the weather and smoke all year round. Highly recommend it to anyone.

I have so many grills and smokers. I just can't justify buying any more right now. Gas and charcoal grills, 2 propane smokers, wood smoker, and an electric smoker which I have used in my garage during the winter months. Maybe one day
