The Grill and BBQ thread

Traeger Texas Elite 34 vs Pro Series 34.

Looks like the pro 34 comes with a smaller upper rack and additionally has dual meat probes. Texas 34 has the “digital elite” temp controller vs the “digital pro” temp controller and no integrated meat probes?

For 100 bucks more the Pro Series looks like a LOT more smoker? Agree or disagree and why please? Thx.

Smoked ribeye, for about 45 min, then seared in a cast iron skillet that was on the gas grill during the smoke getting piping hot, and rested for 10 min. Yum.

Now that is a great looking meal... I love the flavor of a smoked/grilled steak. Been awhile since I tried that...but looks like I will add that to the spring time cooks.

Gracias. I intended to take a pic of the perfect medium rare that they came out, but I tore into it like a wildebeest and forgot to take one. The tenderness was off the charts as well. I always struggle to get the sear that I want. Low and slow then using the cast iron skillet will definitely be my go to now.

So I've really gone off the deep end in my search for a grill set up, but after going to a friends house this past weekend where he just had an outdoor kitchen installed, my wife wants to do something similar. Below is what we have in mind (except a fridge in place of where that burner is). Any recommendation on built-in natural gas grills? All I really want from it is a good infrared unit for searing. Otherwise don't want to sink too much in to other bells and whistles since it would be staying w the house should we move. And instead will get a Kamado Joe for smoking/rotisserie (and can take it w me)

Just by looking at the blue lights your friend has a Lynx. That is a top of the line grill. I looked at them when I was buying my grill. They are expensive and use ceramic bricks. The sear station puts out a ton of heat. I wanted one badly but couldn’t justify the price. They wanted 4-6k depending on the model. I ended up getting the top of the line Weber Summit S670 and am very happy with it and it was way less expensive. I bought the floor model and it ended up costing me around $1800. The cooking space is about the same but the sear station isn’t as good as the Lynx.

For a built-in grill, you can spend as much as you want. Check out Napoleon. They're pretty nice and won't set you back too badly.

Edit: Just read Niner's post...he makes a good point. But check out the Napoleons.

I can get a brand new primo all in one for $600. Does that make it more attractive than a Kamado joe or green egg?

Just got a 28 Blackstone Griddle. Made killer Steak n Shake style burgers. Super simple and dangerously tasty.

This thing is the burger go to cooking device.

I currently have the full size rec tec, a mini rec tec, a Weber Summit S-670, two Masterbuilt Electric Smokers and the Char Broil Big Easy. Any suggestions for what my next cooking toy should be? I was thinking of a kamado style grill, but with already having a gas grill and a few smokers I can’t justify it especially with how expensive they are for a high quality one.

Blackstone Griddle or a pizza oven? These are extremely popular overseas.
