The "Gruden-Gate" Cover-Up (Long)

We've been hearing for days that some of the boosters were having reservations on certain things. And if Gruden had indeed kept raising the ante and increasing his demands, it isn't at all surprising that eventually some people would say "enough is enough".

I find it far more believable that it is a combination of Gruden and the boosters both having reservations. These guys didn't get to be as powerful, influential and wealthy as they are by rolling over when employees or future employees (Gruden) make unreasonable and excessive demands. Nor did they become super successful by having underlings (Hart) screw things up for them, especially when their business is as public as a coach search is. If they were pledging the $ that people claim, you can rest assured they knew everything that was taking place, every little step of the way.

No way all of this was dumped into Hart's lap and left up to him to bring it all together. I can't imagine the Haslems of the world would pledge millions and then tell Hart to give them a call to let them know how things worked out...

According to Hargis, Dave Hart "sunk the deal". How does that fit into your theory?

It actually does.

If Hart "sunk the deal" as they are reporting that does two things:

1) Calms the rumors, and shuts a door.

2) Keeps the fanbase from souring on Gruden. If Gruden turned us down, then it makes us sour on Gruden, and some may not be pleased with the hire. However, if Hart "sunk the deal," it is possible then for Hart to restore himself by wrapping the deal up at a later "more opportune" date.

Not completely bizarre. Dave Hart knows he is going to come out looking like a hero. There is no risks in him leaking that "he blew the deal" only to come back and make it happen.

IMO

Exactly. You don't invest in a single man and then hope he turns out exactly how you want it.

Still believing....the media may not be in the know, I'm beginning to think that...but I still believe that this is the biggest cover up by the people who do know. Never have I seen so many different "reasonings" coming out at once and from people who are normally credible.

This just doesn't make sense. I still expect to see Gruden at a podium soon.

It won't be Tennessee's podium, and that makes me happier than anything else that's happened in the last 5 years.

You know, I wasn't dismissing your conspiracy theories out of hand earlier...but that was before Gruden's agent came out and said "Thanks, but no thanks". Now someone who represents Gruden is saying that it's not happening. We got our denial. That pretty much did it for me.

Look, what Gruden's agent did on Gruden's behalf (not for Gruden, that is an important distinction) was just... be his agent. He was not channeling Gruden's sentiments, he was just trying to maintain leverage in a negotiation where neither side is at the table. Bob LaMonte said what he said because it was in Bob LaMonte's interests, not because it was true. That's not how negotiations are done.

I'm not saying it's Gruden, but I am certain that this deal is not done yet. The negotiations are at a stalemate between Hart and LaMonte, but this is not over. Not in the least.

Bob LaMonte was being Bob LaMonte and trying to "win" the negotiation with Dave Hart. Don't be so sure that he spoke for Gruden. Everybody on both sides of the JG debate has said that Bob LaMonte saying they "hadn't heard from UT until today," was patently FALSE.

Just look at all the lying in public that Les Miles' agent did just to get him a raise at LSU! It works! That's why they do it!

Grasping at straws. You're doing it right.

Show me Dave Hart saying so or show me Gruden saying so. Not grasping, I work with slimeballs like this for a living. I know what he's doing.

I'm perfectly willing to accept it's not Gruden, but nobody in a position to call it over has called it over.

How bout gruden, is he in the position to call it over? Since breaking new's on espn all last night was ' jon gruden tell's UT he is NOT interested in the job'. Not his agent, himself.

Nick Satan stated he wasn't going to the next coach at the University of Alabama, days prior to him being hired by Alabama.

Just like to say....

Hubbs reports that Charlie Strong was interviewed.

Strong denied that it happened today.

Truth, smokescreen? Cover up? I'm telling you. The $$$ want you to believe Gruden is dead. They want you to look at Fisher, Strong, Gundy. They want you to get mad at Hart. They want you to worry. It's going to make your confidence in them soar when it goes positive.

Regardless of who our next coach is do not listen to anything this guy has to say concerning Gruden.. He has an unnatural hatred for the man.. Gruden must have rejected him sexually, smacked his mom or something so vile that it violated his psyche to the point of doing irreversible damage... He really should get help, no point going through life with severe Gruden envy/hatred...
