The Halfcourt Trap NCAA Tournament Thread

You probably didn't see my other post, and I have seen your predictions, but what do you think about UT's Final Four chances, Hat?

If we can't travel 3ish hours or so to watch our team our fanbase sucks.

No doubt UT will travel well. But playing Kansas at a neutral site like Detroit would be an easier game IMO. Not to mention the extra motivation of playing the team that knocked Tennessee out of the no.1 seed.

Louisville scares me for one reason. They are used to playing against the press. I am also going on the assumption that Chism, Crews and Williams play stronger in the post.

Why are they used to playing against the press? Are you saying that they do it in practice? This years louisville team is not a typical pressing pitino team. And if they don't press in the games, I don't know why they would press in practice.

Do we match up better with L'ville or UNC?....and give me your opinion on what UT must do to make it to San Antonio

I know you're asking hat and not me, but I think that we matchup substantially better with louisville than unc. I think Ty Lawson would make our guards look bad. I like our chances against louisville if we can put together a nice offensive streak like we're sometimes known to do.

Please excuse me while I peek over your shoulder at your brackets! You pretty much nailed those!

If I could have just taken into consideration that Wisconsin would get screwed and Georgetown would get overseeded for playing average in the regular season

or his three team mates in stripes!
I think life gets tougher for the refs to call a massively lopsided NCAA game. The better refs are in this tourney, especially Sweet 16 and beyond. Definitely hurts some of UNCs advantage.

I guess "the nation's best player" deserves a call or five. I'm not one to blame an outcome on the stripes but in watching North Carolina it is sometimes comical. I thought BP stated that they were gonna "let em play" in the SEC tourney.....

The problem is that UNC's first four games will be like home games, making it hard for the officials to call it evenly.

I think their inside guys would have a field day against our interior defense, based on what I saw this weekend. If our posts get back to playing as they did the majority of the SEC season, we can certainly beat the Cards.
This is it in a nutshell for me. I also think South Alabama has the ability to cause some havoc as well.

Like Pearl said after Arky, we have to front the post in order to deny the entry pass. If we can do this, then we will have better success in defending down low. That is how we beat Arkansas so handily the first time around.

Ask Tim Floyd how evenly his Sweet 16 game against Carolina was officiated last year.

it happens, but is certainly tougher. I really think Oden getting benched very early in the NC game will change some things going forward.

Louisville. They don't have the offensive weapons Carolina does. To get to San Antonio, Tennessee has to defend in a halfcourt setting and get some offense from their post players.
