1. Given the surrounding circumstances, that's as big as regular season win as Tennessee has ever had. As winning Maui did for UCONN, that'll get at least some of the discussion back on what's happening on the floor.
2. Tennessee was spectacular in both games this week defensively. I'll be shocked if Corey Fisher is throttled like that at any other point this season.
3. The four guys who will have to carry the offensive load did so tonight. Harris, Hopson, Tatum, and Williams have to put up big numbers to mask the offensive deficiencies of their teammates.
4. Aside from an awful night from the field, Melvin Goins played his best game at Tennessee tonight. He had a huge challenge and met it.
5. It's great to get a tournament title after a long drought. Even better, I think the NIT might actually ask UT to come back in four years.
6. Villanova still has the same problem they did last season. They are absolutely dependent on their guards to score.
7. Yarou may eventually be the answer to that problem. Pinkston being cleared to play wouldn't hurt, either.
8. UCLA has serious, serious problems. Howland is going to wish he had actually taken the DePaul job.
9. I can't wait til the officials back off this ridiculous "by the book" style. There's no reason for every game to have 50 plus free throws.
10. There's now no excuse for Tennessee heading into conference play with more than one loss. Other than the game at Pitt, Tennessee is markedly better than everyone they play before SEC play tips off.

Markedly better than Memphis as well?

Not sure we are 'markedly better than' Memphis yet.

I know he's done it in the past (albeit inconsistently), but it was great to see Hopson come through with some fantastic plays in the second half. When he's good, he's really good.

Yes. I think people expecting Memphis to be a top 10 type team are going to be sorely disappointed.

I dont expect top 10 this year for them. If we play D like we did tonight, I think we would be fine with their young guards. Williams should dominate the post in that game. That is their weakness to me.

Btw, I think that Chris Crawford would have been a nice addition to this team. His value may prove to be more than thought at this time last year.

I have a hard time believing there are three teams better than the Vols in the East much less the whole conference. Whoever made that prediction is going to look pretty foolish at the end of the year.
