Again, the Mexican president is speaking in euphemisms in this instance. "Mexican migrants" is code for "illegal aliens"...

One suspected illegal immigrant was detained on the levee on the U.S. side, the FBI said in a statement. Another Border Patrol agent arrived on the concrete bank where the now-dry, 33-feet (10-meter) wide Rio Grande is, and detained a second suspect. Other suspects ran back into Mexico and began throwing rocks, the FBI said.

At least one rock came from behind the agent, who was kneeling beside the suspected illegal immigrant who he had prone on the ground, FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons said.

The agent told the rock throwers to stop and back off, but they continued. The agent fired his weapon several times, hitting one who later died, said the FBI, which is leading the investigation because it involved an assault on a federal officer. The agent was not injured, Simmons said.

Felipe shouldn't look at the illegal immigration issue as a way to defend his citizens, he should realize that people are leaving because his country isn't taking care of them.

Immigration feeds his people. Without it, the poverty numbers in Mexico would resemble those of Rwanda.

If we shut down the border Mexico collapses, their economy is driven by illegal immigrant labor in the US and it isn't even close. If Mexico collapses what form of government will rise up in its place? We are scared to death of having a communist country on our border, this is a major reason we will not stop the border jumpers.

If we want the situation to change we must help Mexicans take control of their own situation and throw out the corrupt and negligent political machine that runs the country, sadly the Mexican people seem to show very little interest in meeting this end.

and it's just dead wrong. We have a law. Those violating it are criminalizing themselves. End of story.

A couple of surgical strikes won't solve anything. There's always the next cartel to take over for the previous one. There needs to be a fundamental change in the way Mexico approaches government, economy and industry. One of the big reasons we don't shut the border and force that change is that we are afraid of what system they choose to put in place. In reality what we are doing is subsidizing Mexico's economy because we fear they will replace the current structure with a communist government.
