Ainge has one more tough defense to face, LSU. He has to have a big game against the Bayou Bengals.

Troy Smith only faces one more tough defense, however, it is the Michigan defense that made Brady Quinn look like a junior varsity QB.

Adrian Peterson probably has the easiest road ahead of him, however, Missouri could trip up his bid for the Heisman. That game is in Columbia, and Tony Temple is getting better every single game. If OU loses to Mizzou, and Adrian Peterson rushes for less than 100, then he is out of the race.

Calvin Johnson: Clemson, Miami, and UGA...

Slaton might have an easier road than Peterson, however, I do not see Heisman voters giving the trophy to a player who faced no competition all year.

Chris Leak...Tim Tebow was responsible for 3 Florida TDs in a game in which UF only scored 23 points. That does not bode well for Chrissy.

Actually Tebow had all three TDs. One rushing, two passing.

I can't believe Ainge isn't getting more hype for the HeiSHAM. He is putting up numbers similar to Manning in '97, and is outplaying everyone else on ESPN's stupid hype list. Just adds to the total absence of credibility the award has now.

They should rename the HeiSHAM the "ESPN's Best BJ Award"

Look at what Ainge did last year. He is now a strong mentionable and will move way up if, and I mean IF, he keeps those numbers up for the rest of the season. To date he is beating Quinn in the numbers but its a long season.

He is doing far better than Manning ever did at UT.

Manning owns ever major passing record at UT. To date, Ainge hasn't broken any of those. After last season, I doubt many of those are still in reach.

I could care less about career records in college football. Ainge is having a season unlike Peyton ever put together at UT.

Ainge will finish with more completions and has a shot at the yardage record, as UK and Vandy will pad his stats. If he does not get the yardage record, it will have been close enough that had UT made the SEC CG, he would have passed it. (UT SEC Champs in 1997.)

I still hate heisman talk. Mark May though did mention him on his list. If he keeps playing this way for the rest of the season, he may very well get an invite, but to win it...virtually ever other candidate would have to tank big time.

either way, the heisman doesn't mean anything.

And it's hard to compare Manning and Ainge...Manning did win the SEC once...and he was pretty good too if memory serves. and Manning never lost to UGA...something Ainge can't say.

I wouldn’t go that far. I don't think he is going to replace Manning anytime soon. He is having a great season so far but not Manning like.
You should probably go back and check your Manning stats. Ainge is completing over 69% of his passes. The best Manning ever did was a little over 65%. Ainge has also proven that he is capable of leading a comeback in a big game...something that no one has ever accused Manning of doing.

In a game against Florida, where we ran for -11 yards, Ainge's arm kept us in the game. In a game against Florida where UT ran for over 100 yards, Manning's arm kept us out of the game.

Ainge keeps putting up numbers, wins, and crucial drives together, yes people in Tennessee will finally forget about Peyton.

His stats on that website aren't accurate. That's pretty sad that professionals can't get a players stats right. His completion percentage is wrong, passing yards, and rush TDs.

Oh... and Ainge is also mentioned for Heisman on cnnsi.com. Personally, I think he's just going to be able to set himself up to be one of the frontrunners in the 2007 Heisman race.

Umm... what is no? People will never forget about Peyton Manning. He continues to break records in the NFL and eventually he will be considered the greatest QB of all time. If he retired right now, he would still get into the Hall of Fame.

Are you serious? Forget about Peyton Manning? :whatever:

Neither Ainge nor Leak is a realistic candidate.

And as far as I'm concerned, that's just fine. There is going to be enough going on with Tebow's fast rise to glory that the Gators do not need Leak distratced by questions about the Heisman.

i wouldn't exactly say that Ainge beat them either...

and i'm not saying ainge is better than peyton or vice versa anyway, but start saying Ainge is doing things that Peyton never did, well, isn't true. the completion % notwithstanding, Ainge hasn't done anything more or less this season that Peyton did.

truth of hte matter, Ainge is now in the exact same position Manning was in in 95, 96 and 97...lost one to Florida, beat UGA and needing help to get to Atlanta.

Yes, I am completely serious.

I'm just saying... if you're expecting people to forget about Peyton Manning, you're in for a letdown. Plain and simple...
