i know you're being serious...but it still makes me laugh.:lolabove:What let down? Peyton was the UT QB who let fans down every year...then kept Tee from taking over for another year by not entering the 1996 NFL Draft.
How do you figure? Tee Martin was more than capable in leading that same exact 1997 team to a National Title in 1998.i know you're being serious...but it still makes me laugh.:lolabove:
Yep, i felt down year after 10 win year...and that SEC championship sucked out loud. And who could forget that win over a top 5 Ohio St. in a bowl game where we finished 2nd in the nation...i still can't stand the fact he came back for his senior season. If he wouldn't have come back, we wouldn't have won the SEC or played in a National Title game. Man that sucked. I'm with you!!!!!
i figure that by TN beating Auburn in the SEC title game to win the SEC, and that TN played Nebraska in the Pre BCS, formerly known as Bowl Coalition National title game. Now, i don't know that TN would have won the National Title in the polls since Michigan won their game, but since at the time, the Pac 10 and Big 10 still played in the Rose Bowl, and we played in the Orange bowl, against the eventual CoNational Champion, it was a defacto National Championship game....but, before it's even brought up, in the technical sense, no, it wasn't a national championship game...but the winner did win it, or at least part of it.How do you figure? Tee Martin was more than capable in leading that same exact 1997 team to a National Title in 1998.
Ryan Leaf was a more talented QB than Joe Montana and Tom Brady. I am concerned with results, not talent.I think Peyton has proven that he's a more talented QB than Tee Martin in the past 10 years.
Nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.

Depends upon how you define success and then how you control your comparison. I define success by national championships, and I believe strongly that Ainge will bring one to UT next season.Okay... let me rephrase myself...
I think Peyton has proven he gets better RESULTS than Tee Martin over the past 10 years.

A controlled comparison is very easy to make between Tee and Peyton, since they had almost an identical surrounding cast. Tee won a national championship, Peyton did not.
Ok then, you are right, it is only about stats. Timmy Chang is the greatest quarterback to ever play college football and Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL. Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, and Tom Brady are not as great as Peyton Manning.Okay... you win. I just totally forgot about Peyton Manning. That dude sucks! Tee Martin was soooo much better. Thanks for opening my eyes. :good!:
those are your words...Ok then, you are right, it is only about stats. Can't and won't accept this until Tee Martin's jersey is retired. Teams and school should praise their champions first and foremost.Because this debate is absurd... Peyton Manning is one of the all time greats at Tennessee... and he will be remembered. He has his flippin jersey retired for cryin out loud. therealUT can't accept this....
no, i hate it because there are to many opinions on what qualifies as a great qb to too many people...stats don't matter, championships do, stats do matter, not everyone is on a team that is capable of winning a championship...Because this debate is absurd...
