I don't think he'll get drafted.. He might have to go free agent from the beginning.. That one is kind of puzzling.

It's better but all the JUCOs on defense effectively created a poison pill for 2014. Dooley didn't address the DL in a sustainable way and not taking a single freakin OL last year has put us in a hole when 4 of this year's starters (assuming Tiny leaves early) graduate after this year. 2014 will have youth all over the OL and DL. This is not a recipe for success in the SEC.

There's virtually no question about the bold.

I think the DL/OL situation is still better but Jones probably needs a better class at those positions this year than he's likely to get... especially the DL.

It is a challenge. No question. But it isn't as bad as when either Kiffin or Dooley arrived.

Sentimore leaving is crazy! This guy didn't play at an elite level. I rarely even noticed him last year. Maybe he knows something we don't like he has a freakish 40 or verticle, but if not, this guy is a moron. Hell he wasn't even the best of the draft eligible d lineman. I'd think scouts would think a lot more of mcullers.

Mods, I think this tread being seperate from the others makes since because sentimore leaving wasn't really expected

He is the football teams Scotty hopson.

If he wants to got pro then that is his right! Why does that make him a moron? Alot of people thought Arian Foster wasn't good enough now look at him!!!!!

Geez calm down OP. For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would fault any kid for trying to make it a go for their dream. Let's say the best he can do is make it to a practice squad. What's the league minimum? $300K? I guarantee no college grad is going to land a job making that kind of money right out of college, unless they're going to work for their millionaire daddy...or mommy. Y'all need to lay off these kids going after their dream. If anything, applaud them and thank them for their time in Orange.

Guys on the practice squad don't make anything close to 300k.

I actually just looked it up. The minimum is $5,200 per week or around $88,000 for a full season. That's actually a little more than I expected.

McCullers and Phillips are big losses. We are woefully thin on the line after next year.

DTs
Allan Carson
Greg Clark
Danny O'Brien
Trevarris Saulsberry

DEs
Jordan Williams
Latroy Lewis
Jason Carr -13
Chauntez Jackson -13
Joe Sanders-13

I can't think of anyone else. Flipping Lawson and Herron would be big.
Mccullers?? Since when??

I don't think it's puzzling at all. He probably thinks school sucks, he doesn't want to deal with a new system, and wants to get on with it. Even if he ends up on somebody's practice squad, making almost $90k is better than playing for free and having to go to class. How much is he likely to move up with one more year?

I would advise caution when judging the talent and abilities (or lack thereof) of any defenisive player coached by Sunseri. Players aren't responsible for establishing order when the DC's instructions are creating chaos.

I always thought Sentimore was a one year guy, he always struck me that he was here to play and move on. I thought he was a better 4-3 DL than 3-4 with his speed, we was so thin at LB again last year...if you remember the big runs came off the right side where Beast and Sentimore was playing...run at the strengths does work...when you can block at the point of attack and let the weaker players try to make of ground for the tackle..

If you can look at the roster that Dooley or Kiffin inherited and not see that Jones is inheriting a much stronger and more stable roster... with or without Sentimore then there's really no help for you.

The DL and OL particularly are MILES ahead of what Kiffin/Fulmer left. The QB position even without Bray is better with two legitimate talents that have at least a year in the program. Dooley inherited... NONE.

The ONLY RB that DD really inherited was Poole who at that point had 32 rushes for 171 yds in two years.

Dooley couldn't coach. He made poor staff decisions and then lacked the ability to make up for it. However he did recruit better players, have better off the field discipline, and lose fewer contributing players for the wrong reasons.

I hear ya........unfortunately you're trying to make sense to some idiots that are typing with their toes !
They Don't know anything of what they're posting about......they just gotta be heard.

Since Sentimore decided to go pro after one year you have a good idea of how smart he is. He'll be working a manual labor job within a year or two.

It just my opinion that with another year under his belt he'd have a much better chance at getting drafted. He's unrated by the analyst.

Hunter will have trouble dealing with NFL press coverage. He will struggle against jams. Patterson will be a project, and Bray will struggle with speed of game. He's in for a rude awakening when it comes to the NFL pass rush.

Makes you wonder how they even managed to play last year.
