The honeymoon is ALREADY over? Shocking numbers

Why'd they cease their socialistic experiment in the 70's - as you said earlier?

Churchill was also re-elected, later. Curious.

And I'll let the evolutionists handle the rest, if they can stomach it.

The crisis of capital accumulation in the mid-1970s. The result? This:

They didn't roll it back completely either. Churchill certainly didn't roll back what Atalee had done.

I'm not sure what the evolutionists have to stomach?

Data jives. BPV doesn't put meat on the grill.

Data what?

Nice meat you provide. Overwhelming. Hurst me that my online persona doesn't live up to your expectations. Hope to change that over time.

Keep up the strong work.

I do not approve of this kind of wealth redistribution:
.

Once again, you note a problem but prescribe a solution that has proven repeatedly to only make it worse. Your Keynesian/progressive ideals always result in the elites getting more power and wealth while the rest get less.

We'll use BPV's metric for wealth:

Doesn't seem to be making it worse at all. Moreover, the same process was repeated in the G8 countries at the same time all following the advice of Keynes. In fact, at least 6/8th of those countries were decidedly socialist.

England voted Churchill out and built the NHS and the "family silverware" in the big socialist institutions like BT, British Steel, British Gas, etc.

and quickly went from a superpower to an also ran. and no it's not a coincidence.

Empire was gone long before that.

Still the world's fifth largest economy (China recently sped past).

Still healthier and in possession of more leisure time than our citizenry....

and ireland is a ward of the EU and the unemployment rate is far higher than ours.

Woody Guthrie (as sung by Billy Bragg and Wilco) suggests taking all the money and spreading it out equal.

That song is Guthrie telling a story about a burglar that justifies his theft by declaring all rich people to have stolen their wealth.

Your burgers haven't had meat in a very long time, kpt.

ireland was an european tiger last month? link?

uk unemployment rate for 18-24 year olds is over 20%. and yes the UK takes out people not looking for work, just like we do.

Sorry, "Celtic Tiger" seems to be the phrase du nom:

Celtic Tiger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Last month was hyperbole for "recently." I assume when they took the bailout from the UK recently it signaled the end of said Tiger. Roar!

Link?

PS - By the way, "boom and bust" is a fundamental characteristic of capitalism. Why is this frowned upon? This is the way it has always worked.

recently is 4 years ago? i suppose it's a coincidence that ireland is going under with 1/4 of all workers working for the gov't right?

Still discussed as a Tiger until the recent bailout.

Kitchen cabinet of Celtic Tiger hotshots failed Cowen - The Irish Times - Mon, Jan 17, 2011

Again, this is the proper functioning of Capitalism: Boom and Bust. That's what it does. You should be applauding - Capitalism working as it does. (BTW, it was the banks, again)

BLS Labor force participation, US 2010:

16 - 24 58.4%

18 - 19 52.9%
20 - 24 73.6%

Droski, DOH!

Labor force data

and? etoys was discussed as a booming company before the dotcom crash. it's been shown to be a socialist fraud. capitalism? how in the world is ireland failing a capitalism problem? what do you think is bankrupting the country? too much spending on big business?

labor force participation for 19 year olds really? you do realize here in the US 57% of the country has some college education? and 10% have a grad degree? ya think maybe there is a reason why people aren't in the labor force at 19?

Don't pretzelize yourself too much, droski. I was the one who wrote "Blah, blah, blah" in my Irish Tiger comment. You were the one pushing the red herring.

We are being bailed out by the Chinese as we speak. The Irish by the UK. Is there a difference - other than one is China and the other the UK? Big banking business was to blame for both.

I was in the labor force while in college. You published data (without link) concerning 18 - 24 year olds in the UK. I was just pointing out one must not throw stones in glass houses...
