Can they? Yes. Will they? Highly unlikely. When UK goes down, I want them to go down hard...Wake isn't the team to do that.
There's only one team in this field capable of blowing UK out of an NCAA Tournament game and they wouldn't see them until the finals.

The key for Wake to win is simply to stomach the blow that Kentucky will give. They have to get up early on them, and then when Kentucky makes their run midway through the game, they just have to stay together. When teams fall apart they're done. But if a team keeps itself together like we did or Mississippi State did, then beating Kentucky is totally in the realm of possibility.

I actually have Kentucky going out here. I don't know why...I just really think that their youth and inexperience and attitudes are gonna catch up with them before the Final Four.

I also don't think it's going to be Kansas. Kansas has too big of a target on their backs. I'm picking Syracuse to win it all. We'll see.

Oh, but didn't you hear? San Diego State got knocked out today! I saw where one "expert" had them going all the way to the Sweet 16. Bird dip.

1. Great win against a game opponent. Now it's time to focus on Ohio.
2. There will only be 48 teams left after tonight. Tennessee is one of them.
3. Melvin Goins elevated his game at the right time. That last 3 will live forever in UT lore.
4. Brian Williams hitting clutch free throws was a minor miracle. That's what it takes in March.
5. Fouling 3 point shooters seems to be something this team can't get out of their system. It's going to eventually cost them a game.
6. Wayne Chism gets another game in a UT uniform. That's a very good thing.
7. JTIII has some soulsearching to do. When your team no shows the NCAAs, there's a systemic problem.
8. Great win for Old Dominion. Blaine Taylor deserves the exposure.
9. Seton Hall should hire Mike Rice immediately. He's ready for the Big East.
10. Any day Vanderbilt and Notre Dame are eliminated from the NCAA Tournament is a good one. Good riddance to Luke Harangoofy.

Wrong. Word on the street is that Harangody was give another 8 years of eligibility from the NCAA, on top of the 11 he has already played. He is a lifer.

Very glad Vols proved John Feinstein (sports author) author wrong. He was with Fred Thompson radio show yesterday saying Vandy would win and UT would lose. Vols are so much better keeping composure at the end this year and Goins was so much fun to watch. Hope Pearl's assistants say to play Goins heavy against Ohio. Stopping their 3 point shots is something the Vols can do.

Texas losing hurt my bracket. I had them beating Kentucky as my 2nd round upset. Oh well.

Marquette losing hurt, too. Had them upsetting Baylor. And had us beating Georgetown.

Thankfully, I got Murray St. and ODU.

I've got WVU beating them in the Elite 8. I'm thinking the Big East toughness (depending on how the refs call the game) could get to the Freshman.

The only thing I don't like is that we only won by 3 and Goins hit 4 three pointers. Tatum was a no-show and Brian Williams couldn't draw iron on his layups.

Not me...I want to see Kentucky lose in a buzzer beater to the lowest seed left just so I can see Cousin's big ugly head explode all over Calipari's Hugo Boss suit.

My attitude is if it's a win in March, there's NOTHING not to like. You saw how weird things got yesterday. We survived and get to play again, that's all that matters now.

I laughed out loud when BW threw that shot up when the shot clock was running out. He looked like he was trying to shoot a cannon ball.

I like the win. Liked the effort by some. But I guess I'm just looking down the road when we play Ohio State and Kansas in the elite 8.

Winning in march feels good, just hope we can keep it going, we have a great shot advance in this tournament. I have read other boards and have heard excuses about SD State not playing their best game, should have won, should have been a 8 or 9 seed, and the refs blew the game.

I thought SD played hard, out-hustled us in the second half for 19 minutes (until Wayne Chsim grabbed the Off rebound on the missed FT). Also, Leonard is a great player and I wish we had a player like him on our team. Pearl compared him to Taylor (from Vandy) and I thought Leonard was better, and considering he is only a freshman, he was a solid player that could play anywhere. Good game SD and I am sure you be there again next season.

Go Vols, beat Ohio!!!!

Dead on...agree 110%. A few teams left who could eek one out, but KU is the only team with a chance to annihilate them.

Why didn't we foul last night after the Gay crossed the half court line before he could get a 3 point shot off?

Hopefully not because I've got WVU knocking them out.

It only makes sense to foul in that situation with a 3 point lead. We were up 4.

Really? Explain please...unless sarcastic. Run 5 seconds off the clock at a time, not our stong suit I know but I don't mind a FT contest with the likes of SDS.

I wasn't being sarcastic. What I mean is that with a 4 point lead, no shot they can make can tie us or beat us if we don't foul. We were fortunate that the shot wasn't made on that foul or SDSU could have tied the game.

With a 3 point lead, obviously they can tie the game by making a 3. So the strategy is to foul someone before they can get a shot off, because they only get 2 FTs. Thus, the opponent has to decide whether to try to make the 2nd FT and cut it to a 1 point game and then foul to try to get the ball back, or intentionally miss the 2nd FT and try to get an offensive rebound and putback.

It's is a good sign that UT's point guards carried this game... because it gave the bigs a night off... now they will have to shoulder the load from here on out.
