The Hunter Biden Thread

Garland Continues Hunter Biden Cover-Up With Bogus Special Counsel

If Attorney General Merrick Garland thought he could restore trust in President Joe Biden’s Justice Department by appointing a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, he should have chosen a special counsel who didn’t try and let Hunter Biden off scot-free just two weeks ago.

In a classic Friday news dump, Garland announced Friday that U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the same U.S. attorney who signed off on Hunter Biden’s now-revoked plea deal, has been appointed as special counsel to investigate his alleged criminal activities more fully.

While Weiss is a Republican who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, Republicans have every reason to be suspicious of his motives since it was just two weeks ago that Weiss tried to close out his investigation of Hunter Biden with a plea deal that was rejected by a federal judge because of its unprecedented nature.

The Justice Department still has never made the terms of that deal public, and it is only because of a leak to the press that anyone outside of Hunter Biden’s lawyers, the court, and the DOJ has seen it. And once one reads the plea deal, it becomes readily apparent why the DOJ wanted to keep it a secret.

"I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family Fro (sic) 30 years. It's really hard. But don't worry unlike Pop I won't make you give me half your salary," Hunter wrote. According to The New York Post, who reported on the texts last year, "Pop" is Biden.

Hunter's text about Biden making him fork over half his salary resurfaces amid new Democrat talking point
Hold on now maybe "Pop" is Corn Pop and is still living at 80+ years old and is taking Hunter's lunch money the way he did his dad's back in the day? 😂🤣

I'm just trying to think like a democrat.🤮😆

And the farce continues. Garland appoints as special counsel a prosecutor that is not eligible to be a special counsel.

It is curious that both Weiss and Garland have said Weiss had all the freedom to pursue that was needed and now we get special counsel status for an investigation that's been going on for 5 years.

The two most likely explanations it seems to me are:

1) since it's likely to go to trial given that the plea deal broke down, he wants to assure everyone that the actual trial is free of any political influence;

Or,

2) something else has come up that no one knows about yet that will require extensive multijurisdictional subpoena and investigatory power.

Why are either of those issues if Weiss had “full authority” to “go anywhere” the investigation needed to go?

Garland clearly stated the first investigation was “free of any political influence”.
