You know, I really had not thought of that angle: the Democrats are pursing this to get Joe out of the race. I was thinking more along the lines of bowing to pressure from the right to do something.

The prosecution by Dems makes more sense.

The Democrats have no decent candidates who could get the nomination. No one would be supported without taking the vow to support the abortion God Moloch and to swear unwaveringly loyalty to the LGBTQEIEIO mafia.
They long ago rejected decency in favor of temporary political power

No. Joe will end up pardoning Hunter (if convicted) and he will drop out because of pick a health reason. This prosecution is just part of the pressure to get him to withdraw.
