The Impeachment Thread

His role is not simply to regurgitate what 51 % of his constituents would vote for. Rather, he is tasked with using judgment to evaluate the issues and vote as he thinks serves their interests.

The problem comes when Republican Senators are so afraid of being bludgeoned by the red hats that they fail to live up to their actual duty.

How does it feel for the shoe to be on the other foot? Lmfao

Wouldn’t it be easier for Republicans to find a president whose former employees don’t all agree he’s a dumb criminal?
Easier to what? You do know a republican got elected, right? And you do know that that Republican President has done well enough that the Dems see him as so unbeatable that they're trying to kick him out of office before he gets reelected.

Right?

So you agree that everything prior to Bolton has been nothing but partisan BS?
I wouldn't call it BS, but there is no doubt that this has been a deeply partisan exercise up until now. If Senate Republicans are not going to vote to block witnesses now, that would be the first break of any kind from that. I didn't think we would see witnesses until this Bolton story broke.

Libs want to pretend this was published in the Onion
Or, maybe I just want to quote the actual person who did the interview instead of just linking clickbait from a clearly pro-Trump source.

There you go. If you're still in denial about what Feinstein said, it's a you problem.

Do you think there will be witnesses now? I don’t think there should be as, even if Trump did say he wanted to hold the aid for investigating Biden, he ended up releasing it without that. It isn’t impeachable. However, I think enough Rs will want to hear from Bolton that he will be deposed at a minimum and possibly compelled to testify.

The question should be, "What did the FF intend for it to mean?". Again, when the Senate acquits, are you going to be okay with that "discretion"?

What they intended was for the Senate to use their discretion. They made it vague and then require 60/40 for a reason. Idk exactly what you're asking. I'm OK constitutionally with whatever they decide.

Talk about careers...Gov...UT Pres...SecEd...Senator...I've followed him since the plaid shirt days...he would have made a good POTUS imo
I've always liked him. My grandfather was a cop in Nashville for 30 years and when he died in 1983, Gov. Alexander sent my grandmother a really nice letter that my mom still has... even though my granddad had been retired for 15 years at the time of his death. That was really nice. Putting politics aside, he seems like a nice man.

You just spent about 4 pages listing the lack of evidence and expounding the desperate need for Bolton's testimony...i.e. bring in some evidence.

It's been complete ********.

Well, some testimony should clear things up.

Hey everybody. It's another one admitting the Dems impeached a duly elected president without having evidence to have done so.

Uh, they did have evidence. Numerous government officials testified about what happened. Trumpkins tried to dismiss that all as being second hand evidence while Trump has tried to block everyone else who supposedly has first hand knowledge from testifying.

So why are you claiming that we need more evidence to prove it--er, I mean, "clear things up"?

And they haven't "tried" to dismiss it as second hand evidence. They HAVE dismissed it as second-hand evidence since, you know, it's second-hand evidence. Hell, it's not even that in many cases. It's actually assumptions about hearsay and hearsay about assumptions.

Reread my post. It was spot on. Having ******, second-hand hearsay and assumptions is not "evidence to have done so" when it comes to overturning the will of the people in choosing their President. You should be ashamed of yourself for defending that.

I was talking about Bolton specifically. It's adorable to pull out the disgruntled employee excuse when it seems to be a thing with former Trump employees turning on their former boss.

Well, except Sondland and Vindman.

I like some of the things he's done, but his behavior and lack of patriotism disqualify him for the office as far as I'm concerned. If he could just stay off of Twitter, he could probably gain a little more acceptance from the groups that speak out against him.
I really don’t get how you can seriously accuse Trump of being unpatriotic in the face of the all out onslaught on our country by leftist morons like those in Hollywood and and others like when Haynesworth said the WH should be attacked. That’s unpatriotic. Not Trump.

It is absolutely unpatriotic to ignore all of our intelligence agencies who say that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and make it clear that they are trying to interfere again in 2020. Especially when your only source to the contrary is Russia.

What pisses me off is that piece of crap Lamar Alexander thinks he can override my vote. He knows where the majority of Tennesseans stand and it appears that he wants to be a liberal and stick his thumb up everyone's ass. I'll make it a point to spit in his face if he votes against the president and decide his voice is higher than the voters.

Senators represent everyone in their state not just one party. Their only obligation is to support and defend the Constitution. Some people may feel they have other obligations but they really don't.

Libs backpedaling and circling the wagons. Amazing how all the journos do that instinctively

I am sure you were for the Iraqi war?
