The Impeachment Thread

Could this explain the timing of the "resignation" of Dan Coats on July 28th, as the Director of National Intelligence? Definitely.

Love how you throw in the caveats such as “and once again, this is an enormous ‘if’ here” but then go on to pile more speculation on top of the “enormous if”.

Aren’t you tired of getting worked?

It is all hypothetical atp. We will see later next week as Trump has already said he is releasing the transcripts. I am done with the speculation.
I wont hold my breath for that pledge to come to fruition but if it does? Great... and I freely admit that this is a non-story if Trump didn't "promise" Zelensky anything in exchange for helping Giuliani investigate Hunter Biden.

It could have just been a coincidence, I suppose... of course, it will lead to speculation among people who don't believe that there are coincidences in politics.

Wouldn’t your “enormous if” need to be true for it not to be a coincidence?

Not necessarily. Someone in the intelligence community really did file a complaint against Trump with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. We still don't know the nature of the complaint (although, we have a general idea from some various leaks). I doubt that Trump was happy about that.

So he must have asked for Coat’s resignation??? Am I following your logic correctly?

It seems like you are either changing the subject or exploring some hypothetical scenario. I'm not sure which it is. This subject concerns Trump's phone call to the Ukrainian President Zelensky in late July, and why someone in the intelligence community (now being referred to as a "whistleblower") who was privy to the phone call, lodged a complaint with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. This is also about the expressed concerns of the Inspector General, Michael Atkinson, and why he hasn't been allowed to brief Congress on the substance of this "whistleblowers" complaint. He serves as a "watchdog" for the intelligence community and is a non-partisan official.

Washington (CNN)The country's No. 2 intelligence official, Sue Gordon, knew it was likely she would have to eventually step down from her post, but the timing of that decision became more urgent on Thursday after her boss -- outgoing spy chief Dan Coats -- interrupted a meeting she was holding on election security and asked his deputy to submit her letter of resignation, sources familiar with the events told CNN.
While details of the conversation between Gordon, an intelligence veteran of more than 30 years, and Coats remain unclear, sources say that the situation clearly abruptly changed after the meeting was interrupted.
Shortly after her encounter with Coats, Gordon submitted her letter of resignation to Vice President Mike Pence, though the document itself was addressed to Trump, according to officials, a highly unusual move that prompted some confusion among some West Wing officials who waited for the President's tweet confirming the news.

Would that be a surprising response from Trump? We know that he didn't care for Coats anyway... and it makes sense that he would want one of "his guys" handling this matter. Coats probably wouldn't be blocking the Inspector General from briefing Congress, would he? Or the timing of Coats' resignation could have been planned for months and this was just a coincidence... who knows?

It’s concerning that some financial institution in Tennessee put you in a position to affect a portion of their finances.

LOL! It's a shame you're in DC... I could help you refi your 2nd mortgage and consolidate any existing debt up to 80% loan to value. We have some great rates going on HELOC's at First Tenn right now...

Wouldn't you think Trump is trying to cover that angle too? Let's see how this Trade war plays out.

Did I say this is the first salvo and the Biden’s China crimes are on deck?

What’s a trade war have to do with a VP flying his coke headed son who was kicked out of the military and screwed his dead brothers wife to China on USAF 2 and scored a billion dollar deal?

Looking more and more like Trump used tax-payer money to hold a country hostage until they gave him "dirt" on Biden and his kid, a political rival in a US election. Smells like bribery to me, at least. Wouldn't be the first time Trump committed a crime. Won't be the last.
But as some of our friends on the board have said, what does it matter as long as we stick it to some liberals?

Narrator: It doesn't matter.

Oh, you don't know how trump negotiates foreign policy? Tell me about this billion dollar deal Hunter Biden got.

It’s been out there for anyone who looks to see for awhile. You’ll learn better if I don’t do your homework for you.

If they didn't have any evidence of a crime they better make it. Imagine in the 8 times Trump tried to coerce him he said, "You better find it".

If true (and it’s an enormous if) this might have also happened because of that. And if that is also true (another enormous if!) then this could have also happened. When this all comes to light, Trump is done. What an awful person!

This is what you guys sound like to me.
