The Impeachment Thread

You’d think as story after story from the off-brand “news” on the right get debunked there would be some move to question why all these people were lying to them instead of just moving on to the next lie.
Trump has so effectively dumbed down his followers that it really doesn't matter. They have been thoroughly gaslighted. They believe exactly what they are told to believe and discount exactly what they are told to discount. Instead of the Stepford Wives, we have the Trumpford Zombies.

It's almost to the point where they are non communicative.

Military officers are a pretty tight knit group. I doubt if his commanding officer would have a problem. Besides congressmen aren't in his chain of command.

As such, I would also think it appropriate for a civilian to address an officer as Mr., or Sir, and not be disrespectful or out of line. Addressing by rank obviously also acceptable. None, IMO, are disrespectful. I never heard anyone address my grandfather as "Captain." I'm sure after he retired the Navy and went to the TVA, he was Bob, or Mr. Burns. And I'm sure he never took offense to that.

That sounds an awfully lot like dumbed down leftists. Maybe there's a connection.

But it's the mainstreet media that can't be trusted! Rando twitter turds and anonymous 4chan trolls are where the real investigative non-partisan journalism occurs.

Oh there is. The connection is called Trump. He has dumbed down the nation in general, but his followers have been dumbed down the most.

Well then, all you CNN'ers would make good company for them. Ya'll hang on Schiff like a prized woody.

While he doesn't have to A Congressman in a formal setting on national TV should address an officer (or EM) in full dress uniform by his rank. The Congressman was being a weasel and knew exactly what he was doing. I'm glad Vindman had the nads to speak up.

I wish I could thank him personally. I am so proud and in so much awe of the men who fought in that war. My wife's dad was a tail gunner on B-24 Liberators and flew I think 25 missions over Germany. He was then sent back to the States and became an instructor. He was getting ready to be shipped to the Pacific when they dropped the bomb.
My dad's brother was a tail gunner on a B-17 and was shot down over Austria in 1943. He was captured and spent almost 2 years in Stalag 17. When the allied troops marched in my uncle weighed 90+/- pounds and was close to death. My family has served and paid their dues going back to the Civil war.

I only caught some lunch viewing, so didn't see that in any context in which he inflected it. But, in general, I have no issue with less formal civilian/military addresses. Just, as it would not be disrespectful for Volker to address him as Mr., and not Senator or Congressman.

Kind of view addressing the President differently. I did not care for Obama much at all, but would have referred to him as Mr. President if I had met him. As a plant manager once told me in my college grad learning days...you may not like who you work for, but you always, always respect the position. A lot of folks in here could learn that lesson. 3 or 4 specifically.
