The "Jordan McRae>Marshall Henderson" Postgame Report

A few things that stood out to me en route to a nice win:

1)Thompson needs to start every game from here on out. Good move by CCM.
2)Armani Moore needs to play more. Shot blocking machine.
3)Maymon was making his layups. You can tell that he had practiced them heavily since the UF game.
4)3-point shooting was great. Wish it was always that good.
5)They weathered the storm when Ole Miss started making their run in the 2nd half.
6)Marshall Henderson wasn't nearly as mouthy as he usually is, probably because his team was losing. Even when they started coming back, he was a little mouthy but not much.(Had to add this one because I can't stand the punk.)

What makes this more frustrating is that we have an inside game that can score against most teams. No need to shoot threes.

This is an area where the coach needs to rein in his players and demand that the ball go inside. Zo seems to either let them call the shots, or doesn't punish insubordination from his guards. Or, he is clueless that shooting from 22 feet is a lower-percentage shot than one from 2 feet. I don't think that is it because that would seem obvious.

No excuse for 19 3's against Florida when you've hit exactly one of them.

Much better at attacking zone last night.
They can do it when their heads are on straight.

And the other team has nobody to speak of in the low post. Again, this was a small jump shooting Ole Miss team. We did what we should have and beat them like a drum most the game. But, I want to see it against a more complete team until I'm sold

Playing zone usually takes big guys who aren't about the rim players out of the game and the both almost had double doubles. No post players or whatever they got the job done when they needed to

I'm just saying, that was a soft Ole Miss team. We played well but lets see us do it consistently until we say we have a real post game

Did it against LSU and UK who have the best bigs in the league. Against Arkansas and TA&M. Oh and 8 and 7 against Florida isn't bad. Idk what more you want. Our post players have been the most consistent part of this team. They get it done night in and night out.

We've been out rebounded once or twice this WHOLE season. I'll look up the stats to make sure but I'm pretty sure it's only been a couple times.

And how did we lose those games to ATM UK and UF? Def post play had a role in that. They play well in the post but I would take Kansas post over ours any day. That's the type if play I expect from these guys every game

And I would take Kentucky's, but let's be realistic.

No our post didn't have a role in it. Look at our 3 point attempts and makes it tells the game. And I would too but they aren't in the SEC so it doesn't matter. I wouldn't take a duo over Stokes/Maymon when it comes to rebounding second chance points.

5-17, 2-13, 1-19 from 3-point line in those respective games. That's a combined 8-49...or 16%.

Stokes combined for 42 pts and 30 rebs in those 3 games.
Maymon combined for 29 pts and 27 rebs in those 3 games.

McRae combined for 31 pts on 8-37 shooting...or 21.6% in those 3 games.
Richardson combined for 15 pts on 6-22 shooting...or 27% in those 3 games.

It's pretty clear where the problem was offensively.

While they are certainly different style players - what I have seen this year has not led me to believe that Jordon McCray is a better basketball player than Marshall Henderson. McCray has a much better supporting cast, and made 6 of 7 uncontested shots without Richardson draped over him. I don't want to go back and check, but I don't think Henderson was 1 for 15 with no assists and 14 running wayhoo shifters against Florida either.

McCray can do things that Henderson can not - but Henderson can do a few things that nobody else can do.

Where would Ole Miss be without Henderson? Where would we be without Jordon? Last night I thought they both played well - albeit they both forced a few shots.

McCray is a talent but doesn't always get it and apparently the coaches struggle to help him get it.

Go back and watch the Florida game and his shot selection along with his passing and distributing of the ball. Shooters gotta shoot, but not necessarily 20 times a game, jumping sideways, while they are double teamed. Meanwhile Stokes is inside, virtually unstoppable, and only taking 5 or 6 shots.

Just my take.

Not trying to give too much credit for last nights game but pg play can mask shooting woes also. That A&M game really stick out in my mind. We went stagnant on O and started jacking up 3's. If DT get the minutes and creates opportunities for guys like he did last night those 5 minutes stretches without a bucket and 3 after 3 being jack don't happen. IMO

There's a LOT more areas that can improve with our team. Post play would be somewhere way down the bottom of the list.

C'mon you're smarter than that. They're predictable man, somehow always missing after wins.

That works both ways. I hope I'm wrong, but if Alabama is blowing UT out Saturday night, you and a couple of others will be a no show in the game thread.

How many times have I said this.

I don't post in the game threads regardless. I'm on this board win or lose, if you haven't figured that out by now that's your problem.
