The Knechtion

The development part of it is proven. 10000%. Every player that's stuck with the program has left here a much better player than they left. Heck, most of the ones that transfer out contribute and/or thrive elsewhere. The portal has allowed Barnes to take his development skills to the next level. As far a Lanier his ceiling at least on the collegiate level is limited by the fact this is a much more talented offensive them than we have ever had. Milicic and Dubar are legit good players and Gainey has had his light come on. And I will say it many times, Okpura and Philips are way more than I expected them to be this year. Heck, Estrella was on something before he got hurt. Crow is delicious.
Okpara is a tougher version of Aidoo, Phillips is a more athletic Awaka.

I remember the interview with DK and Bronny preseason, Bronny sounded like what he is: a rich kid who went to prep school. Then they ask Knecht a question and he’s like “Yeah, man, I’s just hoopin.”

They need to make up their mind. Apparently GMs backed off Jaylen Brown because he was too smart and they were afraid he’d get bored. 🙄
Considering he went third, not a lot of people passed on him.

He's also the kind of "smart" that makes him susceptible to a bunch of weird conspiracy theories. So smart he's dumb, really.

Seems like Knecht has hit his first rookie wall so to speak. He’s been benched and is no longer the starter. Not scoring as much or with the same efficiency that he was a few weeks ago. Only played 13 minutes last night.

He’s got an elite work ethic though. I’m sure he’ll figure it out at some point.

I think its less that he hit a wall than the lakers are in disarray and trying to find everyone's role. When he starts with Lebron on the floor he does great.. coming off the bench and without Lebron not so much. If he is on the floor with for instance Russel or Christie those guys are not gonna be looking for him because they are competing for minutes. Lebron actively looks for DK. I think once the lakers find their go to rotation he will be fine.. they keep trotting out a new lineup every game lately though,

Yeah, I noticed from box scores that DK wasn't taking many shots but I can't watch the games to see why. I was suspecting that he just wasn't getting the ball and your post makes sense.

Think it doesn't help Lebron has been out for several days plus they've been playing better teams.

Think he'll figure it out.

Who’s the last sub 5’9” guard to go in the first round? I also think it’s unlikely Lanier or Milicic go first round, knecht barely made round 1, the NBA just has an issue drafting older guys (which I disagree with), but all 3 of the players named are “old”.

In the modern NBA, the value of small guards has been diminished. They are easier than ever to exploit defensively, and a big part of the value of guys like Muggsy Bogues is they were almost impossible to trap (which is a lost defensive art because you give up open 3's if you trap). People think the Bulls won 6 titles because of MJ's offense, but their real strength was in the MJ + Pippen half-court trap. It devastated teams because they didn't have four 3p shooters on the floor to make the Bulls pay for the gamble. Muggsy Bogues could split that kind of trap better than anyone.

Sounds like a story Brown's people would put out. He was drafted 3rd or 4th, which was higher than anybody ever had him on mock draft boards (that I saw). B/R had him going 8th

RIght now the Lakers have a lot of guys coming back from injuries over the last few weeks and more coming back... throw in the occasional resting of Lebron and AD and it gets weird.

Rui recently came back from an injury. They still have Vanderbilt, Wood and Hayes are all still out till probably January at least. Schifino is also out for a while. Gabe Vincent was nicked up for a bit and so was Christie.

I know someone is gonna say he's talking about a lot of forwards what does that have to do with DK?

Because of Lebron the lakers are a weird team positionally. IF Lebron is healthy they often don't use a point guard in the traditional sense. DK plays basically the 2 spot when Lebrons healthy and they have post backup for AD. So post players like Vanderbilt Hayes and Rui affect how much time AD has to play center and how much LeBron has to play PF. AD prefers to be at the 4 and Lebron at the 3 (defensively) with the other post players being hurt mostly that wonks things up. Also it looks like the past week or so JJ is trying to see what he has with Christie and VIncent and since Lemon Daddy is back from injury also he has his starting spot back.

If everyone is healthy on the lakers 3 guys have set starting posts and everyone else it seems to depend on matchups.
AD
Lebron
Reeves
If healthy those 3 are starting period.

Rui, Vanderbilt, Reddish if all of them are healthy Reddish is the odd man out in the rotation. If Rui and Vanderbilt are hurt Reddish is gonna get heavy minutes. Thats not taking into consideration of Wood and Hayes are healthy.

That leaves Christie, DK, Russell, and Schifino. All dependent on which bigs are out on how much and how they are gonna play. And they also compete with reddish for minutes because he plays anywhere from the 2-4.

I think this next game against the kings Christie is back on the bench and either Dlo or DK start wit the other getting 6th man minutes.. it makes more sense for D-lo to be 6th man

Come again? What is a story that Bronny’s people would put out? I saw this interview with my own eyes. What does it have to do with where Bronny was drafted? It is axiomatic that he isn’t on the same planet as Knecht as a basketball player. Not sure what you’re getting at here.

I'm talking about the part I bolded regarding Brown and GM's backing off of him.

Ah, I gotcha. Forgot I mentioned Brown so your whole point sailed past me lol. I was just going off what the talking heads said during the finals, although they didn’t actually say people passed on him, just that gm’s were wary because they thought he’d get bored or something. Sounds pretty silly now that I think about it. Dude can make his millions now and then go be a professor when he retires if he wants to. 🤷🏼

Knecht’s minutes continue to dwindle. Just 10 minutes last night. 2nd lowest on the team. I haven’t been able to watch the games often, so not sure what has happened. But starting to look like JJ has given up on him being a primary contributor in the rotation.

I think part of it is some of the veterans coming back from injury. Maybe also a bit of a rookie wall. He hasn’t been doing nearly as much in his minutes lately either.
