it’s definitely looking like DK is going to be solidly in the rotation. 13 minutes tonight after 16 in the first game. Didn’t play in the 4th, but I imagine his role will grow as he acclimates to the league and earns the trust of the coaches.

Looks like I’ll be watching a lot more lakers games this year.

Only 2 games, but the bulk minutes have been 2nd Q. They're giving him real minutes without any crunch time pressure. But they've actually used him during those minutes and not just stashed him in the corner. I suspect he will get into upper teens per game for minutes, and start playing more in the 3rd and 4th.

A couple thoughts:
1. JJ Reddick loves his offensive sets, and they really work. I do think this was about a perfect place for knecht to land
2. Knecht has not been bad on defense. Quick switches, mostly staying in front of his man, good contests. He needs to get stronger at fighting over screens tho.
3. The ball doesn't stick even when he's not shooting. He passes ahead when he rebounds, makes quick pass, shoot or drive when ball gets to him. That's important because it doesn't bog down the team. Allows him to be out there for long stretches
4. These 2 games were against the Twolves and Suns 2 of the better west teams. He'll get more play when they face the basement dwellers

I posted that in the 2Q when they were making a run with him on the bench. I mean context matters, yes he played much better in the 2nd half obviously.

Yeah and the coolest thing about the "Westside Knecht" nickname is that Snoop gave it to him. Then Snoop threw out, "you better recognize game, when it's your face". Snoop had Steven A and Cam Newton rolling

He must be enjoying his time on the lakers, all they have him do is come down and stand in the corner. He looked good when he has had a chance. I haven't watched the NBA in years, totally different now. Money in the pocket, have fun Dalton!

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought the NBA cracked down on hanging on the rim after a dunk. Knecht is lucky he didn't get whistled on that particular dunk. But it was a really nice play

JJ Redick pointed to the key 3 that Dalton Knecht hit to start the 4th Q, relieving some of the pressure that built with Fox hitting B2B 3’s to close the 3rd. In the timeout beforehand, Redick asked Knecht if he was ready to hit a shot:

Really dope to see how much of an impact Knecht has had early on. Definitely not contributing like a #17 pick. He may have gotten more playing time if he went higher, but he’s in such a perfect spot for himself. He can win and is also paired with a coach that knows how to use him.

If he continues to earn more minutes, it wouldn't be surprising if he would consistently score around 12 ppg even as 3rd or 4th option on the court. His scoring efficiency after only 3 games is very good. If Lebron misses any time due to injury or just for rest, DK may even get to start in a few games this year.

I would guess DK starts if Rui, Lebron, or Reaves is injured. They gotta have shooting in the starting lineup around AD so he can continue to play MVP ball in the paint.

Notice how the unnecessary hype on him is dissipating. Almost everyone of the ex-player analysts stated as much when he got drafted

Knecht started the game with 0-3 from distance, but got 18 points in cleanup time in the 4th. Bronny only played 5 minutes and hit one shot.
