The "Late Night Munchies" Postgame Report

Impressive win last night on the road by the Vols. One of the best decisions that martin ever made was starting Thompson over Barton. It certainly shows on the court because that is a different team when he's out there.

Stokes another monster double double, which is the norm for him. If he returns next year, I can see him being an NBA 1st round pick.

For the 2nd game in a row, the opponent made a 2nd half run and the Vols put a stop to it and sealed the game. They used to not be able to do that, they would fold once the opponent made a run.

Very few turnovers, which is something they had been struggling with.

Good win, no complaints from me!

He'll ruin Davis like he did Chievous, trying to make him a 4. Kid's clearly a 3.

Not sure I agree that he is clearly a 3. I think he can play the 4 in a certain lineup. He has much more potential than Chievous. He just needs to get a little stronger, but his ball handling is good.

Geeze...you guys need to get a room.

As for the game, lots of positives to take away from it. 2 wins in a row, the 2nd being in a place where we've won 3 of our last 19?

However, I still have concerns, mainly about the depth of this team. Davis was out of his league tonight. Armani and Barton played solid, but didn't contribute a great deal on the offensive end.

Reality is that going forward, Stokes is going to get his double/doubles game in and game out. The key to this team winning is whether Mcrae is on or not.

The objective of most bench players is to provide quality minutes and not lose a lead. Moore provides energy and is a niche player (i.e. defense). Davis was bothered by length but handled the press very well. Davis has a bright future. All we need Barton to do is limit turnovers and hit the occasional 3. He needs to get his shot back.

I disagree. Not many 6'9"-6'10" threes in college basketball. His handles aren't good enough to go against smaller quicker players, and his post game isn't gonna enough to take advantage posting up shorter defenders.

Let him add some muscle and he will be a great stretch 4, that can take bigger guys off the bounce.

Very true. He is even listed as a G/F on the roster. He needs to work on his ball handling and bulk up a little. That way he could one day start at the three and give minutes at the four some.

In no way do I see davis being a 3. The fact that is suggested the Chievous has been "ruined" is pretty funny.

It's always good to beat Bama. To give Martin some credit, he needed to win all of the 4 games in this stretch against some pretty bad teams and he's 2 for 2 thus far. Plus, he finally realized that Thompson was the better fit at PG. We'll see how this translates to later games.

On another note, how terrible is the SEC this year? Watching Ole Miss and Alabama the last couple of game was almost depressing. Throw in some truly awful teams like Vandy, S. Carolina, Mississippi State, Auburn and Georgia and weak or underachieving teams like Arkansas, LSU, Missouri and Tennessee. A true low point for the league.

Maybe im taking it wrong, but why is Arkansas and Alabama weak because we beat them?

The crazy part being it's actually better this year than last, at least at the top it'd appear.

Alabama is horrible, Arkansas is merely bad. That was the worst Tide team I've seen in many years, Grant surely is done after this year if they realize they have a basketball program in Tuscaloosa. Arkansas is mediocre program in a mediocre league.

Only Florida and Kentucky and the Wildcats are only better because they sucked last year. They aren't lasting too long in the tournament, either.

As BTO stated, the league is actually better this year than last. RPI- wise, LSU, OM, and Missouri are good wins. Vandy has jumped alot too- I thought I saw top 70 this morning.

In what way would that garbage we saw in TB the other night be considered a good team? Last year the league was awful, so what does it matter if the league is slightly less awful this year? None of those teams you listed in any good. LSU is, at least, somewhat talented, but they have zero organization. The coaching in this league has definitely reached bottom levels I have never seen in some time.

Right, but it's still better at the top. Last year 3 teams got in, ole miss as a 11 iirc, Missouri a 9 and Florida a 3. Sec will do better in that regard this year, probably 4 teams.

The only thing that makes it marginally better is that the fourth team will be Kentucky, who is, at least, not as awful as last year. Otherwise, the difference is very slim from last year and the performances in the NCAA last year probably won't be much different than last year.

Floridia was a 3 last year this year probably a 1

Missouri was a 9 last year this year Kentucky probably a 3/4

Ole miss was a 11 last year this year Tennessee probably a 10

No fourth team last year, this year Missouri probably a 12

That's going off current projections, so not sure what you mean the only difference is Kentucky? The top 4 is better than the top 4 last year, it seems pretty clear to me.

7 pts and 4 assts out of the pg position last night. Again, could use more but the role of pg on this team is to get stokes, mcrae and jrich going and to play good d.

Lots of hockey assists for Darius last night. He hits the gaps in a zone so well and creates opportunities for our guys. Love having him out there.

You are parsing through degrees of awful. Who cares if they are slightly less awful this year?

Well, it matters because we would rather the league be stronger than it has been. Look, I am not saying the league is great, but it is what is. You can ***** and moan all you want. There have been some bad losses, but the league does have some good wins, too. UF over FSU, Kansas, and Memphis. UK over Louisville. Mizzou over UCLA and West Virginia. Arkansas over Minnesota, and Auburn even beat Clemson. Our win over UVA may the second or third best in conference.

I am not sure it's all coaching. I haven't looked at the recruiting rankings the last few years, but other than UK, UF and maybe LSU, there hasn't been an influx of great talent.

that's all we have needed. not a score first pg with too many turnovers and no d. Both pg's have played solid d all year

That's all my point was and you wanted to argue that, SEC is better this year than last, THE END.

Yeah, I didn't say that. I did say it was a low point for the league or your grand point was that it was terrible, but not as terrible as last year. You, as usual, come up with some nonsense point and think you have something.

If Richardson scores in double figures, this team is tough to beat. Having that fourth option makes this team damn near impossible to stop
