1. The end is near. If you watched tonight and don't realize that, I can't help you.
The end is our next game.
2. Tobias Harris looked like an NBA player for parts of the game tonight. He's probably gone now.
Tobias has been gone for a while. No doubt at all he will be a top 20 pick in the draft this year. He has that much talent. Very smart player, and tremendous work ethic will get a team to take him.
3. Scotty Hopson has regressed slightly. My guess is that he's tired from carrying this team.
His dribbling is some of the worst I have ever seen. All I can think watching him this season is he is auditioning for the NBA scouts every game. Problem is he can't dribble at all, and isn't good enough a spot up shooter for a team to take him for that. I detest Scotty.
4. I still detest Bruce Pearl. That said, I felt some sympathy for him when he got that asinine technical.
I like Bruce, but been saying for years he just isn't a great coach. Good coach, but not great. Too many mistakes that team with good coaching don't make. And way too often there is no real advance in the game of UT players. They either stagnate of regress.
5. Florida is good, not excellent. Sweet 16 good at best.
It's all about matchups for Florida. They can advance to Elite 8 with right matchup, but I don't think they can make the final four.
6. The Gators benefitted from UT's awful ballhandling. Take out the breakaways and it was a game.
i.e. Scotty Hopson
7. Skylar McBee looked more confident than at any point this season. That's the approach he needs to take.
Agreed
8. UT needs to regroup and get back to what they were successful doing early. The season isn't a total loss yet.
Yes, it's gone.

It's hard to beat a team that shoots over 80% in the 2nd half, with the refs not letting us play D

We might as well sit back and enjoy what little time we have left with these guys while we can. I know they've been frustrating this season, but next week will likely bring down the final curtain on what has been the best run in the history of UT basketball. Harris and Hopson are probably gone after this season, add Brian Williams and Melvin Goins to that and we will literally have no returning contributers next season. Add the likely departure of Pearl and his staff, and it looks very likely that UT basketball is headed right back out to wander in our long time place in the college basketball desert. I'm not in the camp that thinks nobody but Pearl can win here, but I have literally no faith in MH to make a good hire. Either way, the last 6 years have been great, and I'm just going to enjoy what little bit there is left come next week.

Points 1 and 8 contradict each other. I tend to lean toward your first point.

(Sorry, I look forward to your post game posts. . .I'm in a terribly negative mood. Made the mistake of drinking and watching this team at the same time.)

Point 1 may be referring to the end of the Pearl era.

The past 8 days Tobias Harris has proved that he will be leaving after the season. He needs some work in certain areas, but he's showed he's mid-1st round.

9. UCONN has gotten back on track. I still don't think they will go deep in the NCAAs.
10. Pat Haden can kiss my ass. Why am I not surprised a milquetoast corporate gasbag is a spineless AD.

The development of McBee has been a weak point on both his part and the coaching staffs this season. One possible reason could be that they didn't expect to need him this season like we did last year so maybe the effort wasn't put into to getting him better prepared over the summer. I don't know. But for whatever reason, he is not any better at all offensively.

That said, his defense has improved a lot over the course of this season to the point that he isn't a liability out there anymore.

If someone can coach him up over the offseason and get him to create shots he could be a viable threat off the bench next year instead a minutes filler.

I don't understand. You obviously liked the Bruce hire so why don't you think MH can get another good coach. We have a lot more to offer this time around then we did when we hired Bruce. Good point on enjoying the end of a great run. Hopefully we can string together a couple wins in the tournament.

Really like some of the points you made in this post but I have a question for you...Who would you want MH to go after if Pearl is indeed out after the Tourney is over?

If Hammy fires Pearl after next week, I'll actually have a little more faith in him. My biggest worry is that he holds on until June and then is blindsided with a year plus suspension, leaving us in deep weeds with nothing we can do about it.

This is pretty much spot on to my feeling right now.
