The Liberal Argument for a Higher Minimum Wage

I'll admit I haven't read hardly any posts in this thread, but here's my center-right, communist (LOL) take: A minimum wage hike is necessary. Certainly there should be exemptions to smaller businesses. I'm confident that companies like McDonald's, WalMart, Lowe's, etc., can absorb the higher wage and still provide an efficient, affordable product. It's imperative the smaller, "mom pop's", are free of the hike. My 0.02 worth
So where do you draw the line?

Walmart isn't absorbing anything.

The cashiers are machines now.

The cleaning crew is a robot.

The trucks are about to be self automated.

The only thing left will be figuring out how to flip out stockers with robots and it's coming.

Then zero human wages.

McDonalds has already started the transition away from human employees.

These companies no longer care about minimum wage because they know within 10 years they won't even have human employees for the most part.

Almost every new restaurant business model has removed waiters from the formula too.

So at least one Democrat has at least some common sense.

“Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said Tuesday that he does not support increasing the minimum age to $15 an hour - a critical roadblock to including the proposal in the final coronavirus relief bill.”

He knows how well $15 would go over in WV.

Joe still tows the party line for the democrats even though his state has left them behind. He'll sell them out for a few toys thrown out to them just like his predecessor Robert Byrd did.

Is the min wage hike hidden in this?
Correction:

It isn't yet. Bernie is trying to add it. Manchin caved on the size of the checks. He wanted it to be smaller. We shall see if they cram the minimum wage stuff in as well.

I don’t think the minimum wage will be added. There’s questions about whether the Senate Parliamentarian would allow it to be included.

Interesting that the minimum wage article was written two hours after that article about his support for reconciliation.
Yes I corrected myself. He backed off on wanting smaller checks. Bernie still wants to add the minimum wage thing to the emergency bill. We shall see.

I have never heard of this outlet before but seems they are lefties. I told you all Manchin is not the moderate some make him out to be, he will vote how he's told

Almost all "name brand" grocery products at major chains are put on the shelf by independent distributors and zero cost to them now.

Tons of store brand products in most major grocery stores

No doubt, and if the minimum is raised, they will have to raise those prices to pay their employees that stock them on the shelves as they are not making $15 now.

I own two distributing companies and my drivers are banging on the back doors at 4:30 am to stock the shelves with my brands for them.

Looks like more Aldi stores will pop up if it ever passes
