The Liberal Argument for a Higher Minimum Wage

Greed. McDonald’s CEO made almost 11 million last year. He could afford easily to pay better wages, he just chooses to try to replace them with robots so instead of losing money he can make even more.
There are almost 2 million mcdonalds employees. If you took 10 million away from the CEO each year you could give each employee 5 dollars, total, for the year.

Not sure how him making 11 million means they could pay more.

There may be other reasons/ways mcdonalds can pay more but the CEO isnt one of them.

McDonald’s had roughly 200k employees in 2020 , I mean I guess he could take his $11 million and divide it up to help the franchise owners workers . Come on man ! LOL
The 200k is corporate McDonalds. Not where you get your super sized fries.

Maff is hard

Fast food was never meant to be a career for all but a few who found their way to management.

If you are a worker in your prime, say 25 to 45, and you're working at a fast food joint there is a serious issue with your career path. We simply must do more to steer kids into skilled trades via trade schools and apprenticeship.

The future is not looking so great.

Leftist math. You just don't understand.

We have the Space Race to blame for the "every student to college" push. We were so afraid of the Ruskies and the results coming out of their conscription-populated science academies that we tried to match it (only without literally kidnapping children).

This is also why we report the results of every single student via NAEP testing instead of select populations like most other first world countries, but I digress.

Already long post made short, we've got a lot of course correcting to do. I believe schools should be increasing funding and recruiting to vocational programs instead of drawing back on them. The trade education coming out of community colleges is solid and graduates end up being sought for work instead of spending weeks looking for it.

We just have to make it as profitable as testing and administration. So many of our elected officials make money off of dividends and kickbacks from these companies that it's in their wallets best wishes to keep them going and expanding.

Actually we have this lawsuit to blame for the "every student to college" push.

I went to Chipotle once and was not impressed. Don’t recall price because it was years ago.
I have always preferred Moes. My friend used to give me so much crap for not going to Chipotle. He was all about their quality. "What are you even eating at Moes?" Regarding the meat.

And then all the stuff came put about Chipotles meat.

Sounds really easy doesn’t it? How about you build a huge franchise that has almost 14k stores in the US that’s worth billions and show them how it’s done?

Who wants to bet money that within 5 years McD's will have robots making most of their food and kiosks will be taking their orders? All those whiney bitches that want big money to make burgers will be sitting at home sucking on the government teat.... until the republicans take the country back.

MCD has over 2M employees. The CEO could make zero and give all his salary to the workers. They'd all get $5. Wow much moon.

Automation has been on its way regardless of what happens with minimum wage. The elimination of the human error coefficient in quick service restaurants has been in process for decades.

The use of AI/ML in new drive through menu boards is intended to reduce wait time between pull up and engagement. AI/ML menu boards never forget to read back your order and also never forget to upsell. Several quick service restaurants now use ordering touchpads indoors, with a single traditional register for more complex orders.

As much as we want to blame this on people asking for more compensation, it's simply the natural order of things. It increases efficiency and decreases cost to the company. It speeds up customer transactions and allows for higher traffic flow during peak hours.

The basis of our economy is continuing its transformation from production based to service and consumption based. We can't blame workers for the natural evolution of the business world.

Are you kidding, everybody knows you can get a good job without a college education, and even the ones with sociology, psychology, and women's studies can't always get good ones. - and I posted in blue just incase someone actually believes this.

Of course it was coming. The up front cost is a deterrent until it isn't. Here we are. Where it isn't. Not bc costs went down in R&D. This has drastically picked up the pace of investment in automation in food service, grocery, big box, and gas stations. Cut their own throat 20 years earlier then needed.
