The Liberal Argument for a Higher Minimum Wage

Deep down she knows the truth.

I’m guessing that deep down she knows some angry Karen at a store will run over you in her E-car one day , and she will have the last laugh . 😂
Either that or one of your “ fans” will “
Buffalo Bill” you one day in a well and hold your boat for ransom , while making you rub the lotion on it’s skin .

She's betting I'll meet and early demise, no doubt about that.....

Based off our antiquated birthright citizenship laws.
I would say based off our laws, antiquated or otherwise, it takes zero effort to be a citizen. And I was more asking why it should take effort.

Good question. I think it should take effort so that people are vested in the country. In a perfect world I'd like a StarShip Troopers model to gain citizenship but I would take simply making it a requirement for 1 parent to be a citizen for birthright citizenship to granted.

That's not the way our nation has ever worked, and I still dont see a compelling reason as to why it should change.

Our citizens are crap. Immigrants put work/produce most of them anyway, so your idea of being invested is flawed from the start.

In your first sentence you say you see no compelling reason to change our requirements for citizenship then follow that up with "our citizens are crap". If our citizenry is crap isn't that a compelling reason to change the requirements?

I agree that way to many of our citizens are crap but what does that have to do with immigrants? In my perfect world immigrants would have the same opportunity to earn citizenship as people born here.

Yeah you're right. Anyone should just show up at the border and be a citizen just because they want to.

Right now immigrants are about the only analogy I can think of for a second class of citizen that we have.

And no raising of the bar to get in doesnt change the quality that is produced inside. And I am completely uncomfortable with there being any real quality metric for citizenship. Its biased from the start and creates a second tier that have done nothing wrong.

You would have 2 classes or categories of legal residents, much like we have today with green cards/student visas ext. There would be residents, people completely legal to live, work and enjoy all the benefits of this country. They just couldn't vote.

Then you would have citizens that have earned that title and the right to vote. Race, color, creed, religion, sex wouldn't matter, citizenship would be open to whoever wanted to earn it. From my life experience people tend to take better care of things they worked for and earned than they do things given to them.

And that creates an unrepresented class. Which is exactly why we kicked the english out. People pay plenty of taxes and government fees that dont show up on one consolidated form that allows you to reject their rights.

They are innocent of any crime and deserve the full rights of a citizen.

And the Romans thought the same way at one time and how did that work out for their republic?

Have you ever wondered what our legacy will be in 2000 years when our civilization has destroyed itself? I'm guessing part of Mount Rushmore and maybe Stone Mountain if it doesn't get blown up in the next few decades.
