Crazy how many people act like we have become South Carolina or something

He's not done yet this season and if you give him next with the two future NBA players and other seniors gone, most likely you will be nearing the mark. McRae and Stokes are what little offense they have with Maymon and Barton chipping in. Hubbs has yet to prove he can play at that level. So where does the rest of the 60 points a game come from to keep him in that NIT 60% winning percentage range? Josh Richardson? LOL.

Are you defending NIT appearances as acceptable?

Yeah, I'm sure it's all on Cuonzo is starting guards went 2-29 from the field.

He deserves plenty of blame for this game, but acting as if he could have magically fixed the game tonight is asinine.

I'm tired of people only blaming players for their ineptitude. Shooting is purely mechanics and focus. The focus probably can't be taught, mechanics can. I doubt these kids chose to shoot 2-29. They rushed and didn't follow through/focus on mechanics or they have poor mechanics. If it's the latter its on the coaching staff.

J Rich is a CCM recruit and his shooting has not improved to a respectable level in 3 yrs of tutelage. He has recruited no one who can put the ball in the basket consistently and he and his staff have proven they're incapable of improving one's shot.

Tennessee had it 15-15 with 9 minutes to go in the first half.

How is that not having your team ready?

The adjustments were awful but it was single digits at halftime.

15-15 with 9 min to go. Really? Then they got outscored 52-26 the rest of the game. That's pathetic.

It was single digits at halftime because of what Fla didn't do, not because of what UT did. Surely you saw that. Today was an embarrassment. A team that experienced and talented shouldn't be getting its ass handed to it like that. That throws up red flags to me. Along with the inexcusable losses to UTEP on a neutral court, A & M at home and sleepwalking against NC State at home.

I'll give Martin and the players one thing. When they lose, they know how to do it up big. It's usually in cluster***** fashion. Bravo.

Martin has been disappointing but people act like he's an under .500 coach.

He's not some horrible idiot some portray him to be.

When it comes to coaching offense, he's not far from it. Again, tell me one good thing we do on offense? Rebound? That's about it. Our set plays are pure garbage.

Cuonzo is reminding me more of Dooley every day. Nice guy, real organized, talks a pretty good show, classy hire. And in the end, CAN'T. FREAKIN. COACH. HERE.

The more I talk to people who interacted with Dooley, the more incorrect I believe your comparison to be. Dooley is an arrogant prick with an overbearing sense of self-entitlement. Cuonzo is a likable, humble man.

The only similarity seems to be that both were in over their heads. Unfortunately, it will likely end the same, but with significantly less disdain for CCM from Vol fans.

Everything I've read or heard indicates that Cuonzo Martin is a spectacular human being. He's a man's man. But he's just not a great head basketball coach. He's probably a great guy to have as your lead assistant.

Everything that has come out about Dooley has indicated that he's just an insufferable assh0le.

I have a dear friend who's a 'mans man'....I mean truly a 'mans man'.....he fought in Vietnam and has a steel plate in his head...he also has a speech impediment, one eye, and one and one half legs......he spends most of his time sitting on the front porch of a small grocery store/market/restaurant in Campbell County and playing with his cats....somewhere between 5 and 15 on any given day....he loves basketball....played it in school and from I hear was pretty good....now days he loves to talk about it...and his cats....he has a great personality...smiles all the time...helps you with your groceries and getting the cats out from underneath your car.......

This cold weather and rain been getting the best of him recently....I think we should give him a shot as coaching the team the remainder of the year...give Martin a break...give him time to bone up on his brooding...I mean lots of college professors and other professionals take sabbaticals....wouldn't mean he was less of a 'mans man'......

1. Jarnell played a terrific game and Maymon was solid.
2. McRae just had a tough day and he tried to force some shots....... it happens to every player once in a while.
3. This is the quickest and most athletic Florida team that I have seen in a while and their press is the best UT will see all season.
4. Thompson needs to get a start at pg because he is a little better defensively than Barton.
5. These games will happen occasionally over the course of a season.
6. UT needs to win all of their remaining games in order to have a realistic chance to go to the NCAA Tournament.
7. Onward to the game against Ole Miss.

Florida's full court press was one of the major keys in the game. UT struggled at times against it and it definitely disrupted their flow. Thompson is not quick enough to break the press. When teams press you like that you need a point guard that can break it quickly. Though Barton didn't have a good offensive game I thought he would be key in getting it up court, CCM never gave him a chance.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at home vs Missouri cost UT a bowl and kept Dooley from getting another year.

Same script if you substitute TX A&M, NCAA tourney, and Cuonzo, roundball-wise.

This was a coaching failure. When we couldn't get setups, we had nothing to lose by speeding it up and playing fast break. Martin didn't adjust anything.

I wish Barton didn't look lost on offense. Disappointed. I thought he did a good job on wilbeken. I dont know that he scored with Barton defending. Thought he did ok against the press too. DT, McRae and josh kept picking up their dribbles. Still, nobody attacked the middle of the press or zone. Might as well just go ahead and post that after every loss to a team that presses or zones.

:) why vol fans think any/other outcome would happen this season is beyond me.. past performance predicts his future performance.. and ccm is a avg coach at best that will win a few but never compete for championships.. n never..

if hart doesnt fire him then u know hart want ut to be avg n pay his bills n draw a fat paycheck..

quit going to the games.. quit donating n send hart a message.. u dont have to be a big dollar person.. if/we all stop it then thats a big impact to hart..

students first.. then single game buyers..then season ticket holders

:peace2:

Yep. Have no idea why we don't put someone in the middle at half court on the press. We have two in the backcourt passing back and forth, two up the sidelines, and one deep. Good presses use the sidelines as a defense, and we play into their hands. Put someone in the middle, and he is the outlet when a defender hedges or you think you can't get up court. Basic basketball.

Gators may have provided a recipe (press) to beating UT. Don't be surprised of Ole Miss comes in with it. Put the ball in Barton's hands, spread the court and let him beat the press. Thompson can't do it he's to slow.

Our guards were absolutely horrible in this game, until that improves, UT has no chance of making the tourney.

Sorry but the idea of Barton being given the ball and told to go break it doesn't instill any confidence.

With perimeter play like that, we could dig up John Wooden and get the same result.

No way!!!!!!! John Wooden or even better Bruce Pearl would take the talent that is there and make this a very good ball team. We would be 16 and 4 or 15 and 5 with Pearl as our coach with the players we have now. Pearl also would have recruited better players than we have now and we may only have 2 or 3 loses!

Not saying that He is the only answer to our problem but I am saying that Martin is not the answer to our problem.

Our problem by the way is bad basketball!!!

We could help our guards so much if we just grabbed the ball out of the net and took off rather than trying to set up a press break too.
