The Mandalorian

Awesome episode. Rosario nailed it as Ashoka plus Thrawn too and we finally got answers about The child. Dave Filioni and Jon Favrau are doing a great job with this.

It’s great how they just jump right into Ahsoka from the start instead of some cliffhanger. I know she was name dropped and there was an episode in between but using her in the cold open and kicking it off with a bad ass white saber take down of a militia was perfect.

So for all the Rebels fans... does this mean she found Ezra at some point?

A: yeah that was awesome. I was expecting a search and cliff hanger reveal. To hit the ground running like that was a great surprise. Hell of a way to open.
B: after pondering on this I think she's still in search mode for him. I think either Ezra might be a captive or been killed by Thrawn. She's either hunting for him to rescue, or avenge him. I think she might have also been speaking from personal experience and not just about Vader when referring to what connections can cause.

RJ should take note, that’s how you subvert expectations.

Also we know at least one youngling wasn’t in that room with Anakin...

But who got him out?

My wildest theory that I’m running with at the moment is that Grogu’s memory going dark means that he’s Revan lol

Totally impossible but I’m where my mind is going after such an amazing episode.

There’s just so much lore they just opened up. Thrawn, probably Ezra, force memory wiping, HK assassin droids, lothcat and possibly Moria Ahsoka’s companion owl.

I liked the aged Johnny Ringo vibe Michael Biehn was throwing off. I always liked him as a bad guy and would love to have seen a minor series arc with him in this. But well... 'bout that.

Agree on Dawson. I was worried she couldn't pull it off. But she nailed it. It took me a bit to get over the new voice and all since one gets used to Ashley Eckstein, but I'll give Rosario Dawson credit for being able to bring to live action something we've only seen in cartoon format.

Tython being mentioned had me geeking. It's a planet that's been around in the Expanded Universe for years. I like how Favreau and Filoni are pulling bits and pieces of the old Expanded Universe into canon like they did in Rebels and Clone Wars.

And...

If they bring Thrawn into this series? Total. Fire. The possibilities are endless of the epic confrontation between Thrawn and Moff Gideon. Because you know the ego of a Grand Admiral and a Moff are going to conflict especially with nobody around from the Empire to keep them in check.

But we also know (or think we know) Ahsoka doesn't survive into Ep. VII-IX. Of course, she could have been Force projecting when talking to Rey, but who knows since they really ****ed up that last three movies.

As a minimum, Thrawn surviving leaves the cliffhanger from Rebels still hanging. It does beg the question of what happened to Ezra Bridger.

And Sabine Wren...

And I have this feeling we haven't seen the last of Bo-Katan which I think might tell the story about the fate of Sabine Wren. I don't think they Chekhov Gunned Bo-Katan into the series just to say "go find Ashoka." And they really haven't introduced anyone they don't plan to use later on in the series.

This series is the best thing to happen to the Star Wars franchise since Rogue One in my opinion.

I’m excited because I loved the Thrawn trilogy and was disappointed when it wasn’t put to film. I know he was in the cartoons but I’ve never seen them.

I really enjoy what they’ve done with this series.

Saw a headline that Sackhoff confirmed Bo Katan isn’t coming back this season. If her quest is to retrieve the Dark Saber then we know she will be back.

Also, is Beskar the Adamantium of the Star Wars universe? Only thing I’ve ever seen withstand a lightsaber like that.

There are several materials in the Star Wars Universe that are lightsaber resistant. Phrik and Beskar being the most common seen in the movies/animated shows. The electrostaffs used in Episode 3 and throughout the Clone Wars series are made of phrik.

Cortosis is another material that's mentioned, though it's never been seen in the live action or animated series.

Several others that are not canon have been mentioned in various novels and whatnot.

Lightsaber/Legends

Have fun reading up and going geek getting educated on lightsabers.

I have watched all of Clone Wars and Rebels. But I’m not a big EU follower. I don’t recall ever seeing Beskar before this show. Assuming it was in a Mandalor episode?

It was mentioned in Rebels by Sabine Wren but never called that by name. Basically it was referred to as just "armor."

This is the first time they brought in the formal name in a series.

Gotcha... I do remember in Rebels when Kanan was training Sabine with the Dark Saber and Pri Vizsla broke down how all the Mandalorian weapons were developed to offset the Jedi’s powers. Makes sense they would create an armor that could deflect light saber strikes.

To my recollection the only other things that have been shown on screen are energy based as well. Like the electro staffs you mentioned. Of course we also got the Beskar spear in this one as well.

I dont understand, so she will be back?

Knew the henchman sounded familiar but missed Michael Biehn’s name in the credits. Would never have guessed.
