The Mandalorian

Was thinking I wonder:
if Moff Gideon foreshadowed something there with his comment " you might put an eye out" I wonder if down the road Grogu will use the darksaber and take out one of Gideon's eyes.

the hint at the plans for Grogu. I wonder if this is an attempt to revive the emperor?

I have to say, I thought the season wasn't going to be great when they really focused on Frog Lady in one of the first two episodes.

All I can say is how wrong I am. That one episode was kinda meh, but the rest of the season has been completely badass. And they really are setting up an epic Season 3.

I was a little angry...

When they blew up the Razor Crest. Especially after it got rebuilt and looking in its full glory. C'mon man! Mando needs a good ship! Though Slave 1 certainly is badass in its own right so Mando's got a cool ride.

This really was the first time we saw Boba going full Mandalorian. It never really happened in Episode V or VI. Jango, save that scene with Obi-Wan in Ep II never really broke loose either. There's been a lot of fan faction about it over the years, but this is the first time we've seen it in live action living up to his true Mandalorian heritage.

However, Boba's looking a bit plump in that armor lol Shades of Rebels when Rex gets into that Stormtrooper armor. "You're taking him to the commissary?"

Interesting they brought back Fennec Shand. I had a feeling she wasn't going to be a one and done.

The whole episode really does have Robert Rodriguez's fingerprints all over it. It has this underlying Desperado feel to it.

It really didn't end the way I thought it would either. However, it's setting up something huge and I don't think they can't not do a Season 3.

But who did Baby Yoda make contact with? That's the real question.

There was an audible gasp by all of my kids when...

The Razor Crest blew up. That was perhaps the most unexpected thing that could have happened. Even more so than Grogu getting captured... Shame. Santa is bring one of my kids the Lego Razor Crest this year. And it’s no more.

If nothing else Filoni should have been a consultant on ALL the movies in the Disney era. He was Lucas’ protege but is able to reign in some of the wackyness George would force in (no pun intended).

Kathleen Kennedy is a good producer but she lacks creative vision. She should have just stuck to the business side of running Lucasfilm. Filoni should have been put in charge as Creative Director of Star Wars. He can be the Kevin Feigi of the franchise. He

I don't know about the wackiness so to speak, but he was able to bring life into the characters Lucas had created as well as changing directions with the ones already introduced. For example, Ashoka was not that popular when she came out with the Clone Wars movie. Nobody wanted a bratty Padawan and over the course of the series he wrote those characteristics out for the most part and focused on her upbringing. In turn, she became a beloved character with her own fan base.

He certainly rounded out Anakin in the Clone Wars series far more than the movies ever could. I blame Hayden Christensen more than anything (terrible actor for that part) and Filoni did more to develop that character than anything Lucas could have done. You really see the shadows of the Dark Side start to develop during that series and can understand the "why" he fell to the dark side. It wasn't just one thing, but a whole lot of them. Something Ep I-III writers were never able to bring to life.

But with Filoni, you also get Favreau. I think collectively they form a force that brings a captivating story into the mix.

Anyway, I'll refrain from my social justice/political discussion on how I feel about Ep VII-IX. But I will say Filoni and Favreau both know how to make characters, even supporting ones, just as equal to the main character without going overboard.

LOL why are we still calling him "Mando." He has a name now. It's Din Jarren.

The part that cracked me up in this new episode was...

Din repeatedly trying to breech Grogu's force field. He went back THREE times, trying to penetrate that thing, leading to the same result each time. Also, apparently Storm Trooper armor serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever and they still can't hit the broad side of a barn!

Nope.

Everyone on the show calls him Mando.

I think Baby Yoda has stuck in the zeitgeist but my kids are already correcting me when I say it. They interrupt me “Grogu!”

A little fun fact for y’all. Moff Gideon well the actor that plays him was in Trading Places in a bit part.

I agree with everything you said about Clone Wars developing Anakin way better than the prequels. Ahsoka was awful at first. I hated her in the “movie” (which was really just 3 episodes Lucas decided to push to theater). She was one of the main reasons I avoided the series until it was on Netflix and I gave it another chance. I stuck with it and she developed into one of my favorite characters in SW.

Did he ever get his jet pack back?

He just set it down by the rock. I thought it was an odd request he remove it. Really that was just so he wouldn’t have it on for the climax of the episode. It made no sense that he didn’t put it back on.

The Clone Wars tv series grew my liking for the prequels. Still nowhere as good as the original trilogy, but it definitely beats the heck out of the sequel trilogy.

Me too. Also watching the prequels with my kids who enjoy them at face value and not as cynical adult fans gave me a different perspective on them. It’s a shame it took a 7 season animated show to flesh them out though. Some people refuse to watch it just because it’s animated.
