The Mandalorian

Iā€™m excited because I loved the Thrawn trilogy and was disappointed when it wasnā€™t put to film. I know he was in the cartoons but Iā€™ve never seen them.

I really enjoy what theyā€™ve done with this series.

Totally agree. Love that they are including some of the old canon that was discarded when Disney bought up Lucasfilms. I remember as a kid checking out all the Thrawn Trilogy books from my local library and they really sparked an interest in the star wars universe. Those books really brought back interest into star wars during that 16 year span between the Return of the Jedi and the Phantom Menace.

Those books were definitely a catalyst to reigniting interest in SW. The Dark Empire comic series by Dark Horse followed in its footsteps and really kept the franchise alive during the dormant film years of the 90s.

and even helped after Phantom Menace, well. Hayden Christensen, Jar Jar all that nonsense.

The scene with Michael Biehn and Mando felt straight out of Tombstone. If Mando had dropped ā€œIā€™m your huckleberryā€, I would have been okay with it lol.

That whole scene was awesome with the juxtaposition of an old western shootout trope on the outside of the gate and a Samurai sword fight on the other side.

So question for Expanded Universe guys, because as big of a SW fan I am I never really got into the EU. Or maybe this is answered in the various animated canon shows that I'm still working through (almost through S2 of Clone Wars).

Are there groups/people that are "Jedi "that aren't Jedi or Sith? Like people who can use the Force and can use lightsabers but aren't Jedi nor Sith, kind of in the middle so to speak or even just kind of their own thing? I'm going to guess the answer is yes but I've never really seen or heard about them if so. I've always thought that would be an interesting group or character to introduce, people who are as skilled as Jedi/Sith but don't pledge to either. And I don't really mean force sensitive people after the wiping out of the Jedi, I mean people who chose not to be Jedi but still became skilled like a Jedi.

Not sure about the EU books and such but there is a group in Clone Wars called the Nightsisters. They were dark side witches but not affiliated with the Sith. They didnā€™t use light sabers either. However, their linage did spawn Asaj Ventress and Maul who were trained as Sith by Dooku and Sidious.

So something I have been thinking about...Why wasn't baby yoda killed in the temple with all the other younglings by vader? If he is 50 would that put him in the temple as a newborn right around the time Vader was slaughtering all the other kids?

He would have been around 20-21 when the temple slaughter happened, The Mandalorian takes place about 30 years after that event. And the implication is someone snuck him out. Whether we find out or not remains to be seen.

I have to say, I thought the season wasn't going to be great when they really focused on Frog Lady in one of the first two episodes.

All I can say is how wrong I am. That one episode was kinda meh, but the rest of the season has been completely badass. And they really are setting up an epic Season 3.

I was a little angry...

When they blew up the Razor Crest. Especially after it got rebuilt and looking in its full glory. C'mon man! Mando needs a good ship! Though Slave 1 certainly is badass in its own right so Mando's got a cool ride.

This really was the first time we saw Boba going full Mandalorian. It never really happened in Episode V or VI. Jango, save that scene with Obi-Wan in Ep II never really broke loose either. There's been a lot of fan faction about it over the years, but this is the first time we've seen it in live action living up to his true Mandalorian heritage.

However, Boba's looking a bit plump in that armor lol Shades of Rebels when Rex gets into that Stormtrooper armor. "You're taking him to the commissary?"

Interesting they brought back Fennec Shand. I had a feeling she wasn't going to be a one and done.

The whole episode really does have Robert Rodriguez's fingerprints all over it. It has this underlying Desperado feel to it.

It really didn't end the way I thought it would either. However, it's setting up something huge and I don't think they can't not do a Season 3.

But who did Baby Yoda make contact with? That's the real question.

I will add this...

They should have had Favreau and Filoni write, direct and produce Episodes VII-IX. I was not a fan of the next trilogy at all and they should set fire to Episode VIII and just claim the insurance on it. What Favreau and Filoni could have written into that after seeing almost two seasons of The Mandalorian would have been worthy of the Star Wars name.

My guess is starkiller.

Yes he is legend now and not canon and supposedly dead in legend lore but clearly this team is rewriting canon and Disney has given them lead way.

Let's be honest....jj damn near killed star wars. Disney needs these guys to bring it back and create multiple story lines which ao far they have done an amazing job at.

The beginning of this episode when you see the ship coming in to land is probably the most excited I have been since empire. I felt 5 again and my inner fan boy was going nuts.

If nothing else Filoni should have been a consultant on ALL the movies in the Disney era. He was Lucasā€™ protege but is able to reign in some of the wackyness George would force in (no pun intended).

Kathleen Kennedy is a good producer but she lacks creative vision. She should have just stuck to the business side of running Lucasfilm. Filoni should have been put in charge as Creative Director of Star Wars. He can be the Kevin Feigi of the franchise. He
