Trump probe: law enforcement don’t expect arraignment until Next Week, virtual option not considered

A law enforcement source told Fox News Monday that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and different branches of law enforcement discussed the logistics of closing down streets and putting lights up with generators, extra barriers, and extra police.

The source said law enforcement does not expect the former president to be arraigned until next week as the Manhattan grand jury – which has been meeting secretly to hear evidence for weeks – has another witness on Wednesday. A virtual option was apparently ruled out as the District Attorney is opposed to it. However, another source familiar with the discussions regarding the handling of a possible Trump indictment, said that a virtual arraignment for the former president was never seriously considered.

That's where Bragg is going to have a problem with this. The misdemeanor statute of limitations on this has run out. Probably why DOJ and FEC largely passed on it and I've seen several legal scholars interviewed recently saying you can't revive a misdemeanor this way and convert it to a felony. We will see, but it is purely a stunt, completely politically motivated based on this DA's record of how he's handled other crimes and I hope Bragg bends himself over in the process, ruining his career.

I have no idea. The problem for Trump is the (politically motivated) DA and/or lawyers in the DA's office present their "evidence" to the grand jurors and tell them all the wonderful reasons why they should indict and send it to trial.

From a trial attorney website: "Regardless of who initiates a Grand Jury investigation, there is no specific right for a defendant or defense counsel to take part in the proceeding. Thus, the primary role of a defense attorney in regards to the grand jury is filing motions to dismiss improper indictments."

So, basically sounds like no defense attorney will argue evidence at that time on Trump's behalf. I assume that is reserved for the actual trial itself. They will just try to file a motion to dismiss the case. I can only imagine how impossible that will be given the locale. If Trump is acquitted, I'm buying all outstanding shares of stock in popcorn companies that second. Gonna be show.

I have a Q as I am not knowledgable;

There is going to be a GJ and Trump's lawyers will not be there. Will they announce the commencement of the GJ?
How long does a GJ convene?

They haven't even had the GJ proceeding yet and that takes time. Heck..he could be exonerated in the GJ and would anyone even know about it?

Trump's close association with Ryan, McConnell, Graham, Bolton, etc is much more concerning than his relationship with Clifford.

In fairness, the Dem Establishment is in a tough spot: they have a President who has led the country onto the brink of full recession, into skyrocketing inflation, through a disastrous/failed CV19 response, and has us positioned as a feeble/flailing nation on the world stage. A huge war continues in Asia and tensions with China and N Korea are high. Biden is, by any measure, suffering from senile dementia. Yet, they don't have a single answer, nor a viable, competent successor for the next election.

This is a desperation move, over a dumbass aged offense that should carry no more penalty than a slap on the wrist. We are freeing violent offenders and letting Fentanyl pour across the southern border, despite it now being the single largest killer of younger adults.

It will backfire, and it could get really nasty. Pulling this junk and attempting to martyr Trump (who I do not really care for) could result in costly and devisive protests, violence, and potentially galvanize groups already sitting on a powder keg and armed to the teeth.

Here's an idea: come up with a plan to get the country back on track and present a 2024 candidate who doesn't poop his pants. Then, you don't have to worry about Trump. The Right will be forced to produce a better candidate, and we will all be better off.

I truly fear what it is going to take to straighten it out. This country was on a similar path in the twenties and thirties and it took a world war to bring us back to center.
