The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

Serious question, asked by a friend at Bible study last night, as neither of us really watch the news:

What is/are the exact "crimes" he was indicted/arrested for? As far as I know, claiming there was an unfair election is not an actual "crime."
They are stretching the legal definition especially rico

I'm GA he's accused of racketeering and conspiracy charges including attempting to persuade officials to manufacture votes; and through his surrogates intimidating witnesses, illegally accessing and copying voting machine software. In FL he is accused of illegally retaining and keeping government documents and maybe mishandling classified information.

Not sure about the other one in DC, but it stems from his actions leading up to January 6.

Somewhere in there are charges he conspired to have people forge/fraudulently submit electoral votes to the electoral college.

You'll probably just keep your head firmly in the sand, but....

MAYBE---He mishandled Classified Documents, put that in the Bank.
Not charged for mishandling, Charged with 31 other charges as the result of his mishandling, such as concealing, conspiring, unauthorized retention and lying about it to the FEDs.

Plus obstruction, including what is to me the possible Grand Daddy Charge of all cases -- directing others to destroy the surveillance video the day after getting a subpoena for it.

If convicted, that is an absolutely remarkable crime for which there would be zero defense and I would think the Court would have to render judgment for that as a felony with a significant sentence.

Why should I really bother reading through all that? There are so many more important things for me to spend my energy on.

I know about the documents deal, which is stupid -- all ex-Ps (and VPs, apparently -- which is illegal) have done that.

The election stuff seems fishy. What is the exact "crime?" Looks like a political power move to take out an opponent, such would be scary waters for the US to go down (and will likely backfire in the end).

You asked what the crimes were. I provided the list. You then asked why should you bother reading it??? You asked....

Can't make this **** up...

I don't think anyone in the country denies that the Biden family is dirty as hell. Whatever crimes Trump is accused of look like petty shoplifting compared to Biden's arrangements with Ukraine and China, Hunter's glorious escapades, and 10% for the Big Guy.

So yeah, it looks very bad. Seems like a lot of people are noticing (many of which can identify with feeling persecuted/wrongfully prosecuted).

I had a few minutes and read through it. I don't think he's going to jail for telling people to "fight like hell." That's hilarious.

I guess we will see about the election stuff. Racketeering? That's a stretch.

The documents issue is stupid and definitely a political attack. No one give a crap.

Who knows? Maybe this will somehow lead to a viable alternate nomination for GOP candidate. I doubt it though, which means the next election will be even nastier than the prior one, which will be very sad for the country. I'm sick of it all.

Since the Presidential Records Act of 1978 became law, other Presidents and Vice Presidents have been asked to hand over classified material to NARA as required by law ... The difference is, that those other former Presidents and former Vice Presidents (including Biden) complied. Trump did not. He was given ample opportunity to do so.

It's not stupid. Trump should have done it.

You can't really call something stupid, if you don't read it. IYO, all this amounts to by not reading it is your opinion without knowledge. You don't care about it then maybe we should just take this with a grain of salt of an uninformed poster with no credibility.

IOW, this amounts to a DRIVE BY POSTING with no credibility. Reality is coming for Biden & Trump and if you were up to speed you could talk to the matter vs playing a game of cat & Mouse.

So you can quit playing dumb.

Again, see post above. DRIVE BY POSTING

Did you miss where I told you I read it?

So, what will happen will happen. It's not like arguing about it on VN will solve anything. When election time comes, we will have choices. As I've said many times before, I will vote for the candidate that I think must closely aligns with my values and views for this country, the ability to be a leader on the world stage, and the most likely to uphold our liberties while getting the economy back on track.

Good for you. You came to the Indictment of Donald Trump to give an opinion on something you had not read until you got into the Thread.
I can give you a word of advice, you came to the wrong thread to find the answer you seek. In addition, you are going to have to read more than Volnation to make an informed decision.
What is questionable is that you made several unformed comments regarding the indictments against Trump based on VOLNATION and 1 Read Article. I hope you vote as you declare and if you do you will not vote for BIDEN or TRUMP.

Nothing will stick, it's all designed to keep Trump off the campaign trail..same with keeping I'm off the ballot...it won't hold up in court but it only needs to hold up long enough to interfere with the election

Ironically, your last sentence was the same rationale which Trump was using while trying to convince Barr to arrest Biden in October of 2020.

How do you feel about the fake electors he hired already flipping on him? That won't stick either?

Keep telling yourself that. Trump will win be the Nominee regardless of his situation and the Democrats will run a different candidate.
More concerned about the damage done to the Republican Party.

I hope that makes you feel better.

As noted: I actually came to ask a simple question. And, no, I don't have to make any decision. That's up to the courts.

Just because I don't care to obsess over every story that pertains to Trump and spend all my waking hours worrying about him doesn't preclude me from posting wherever the hell I want to.

Don't worry about them. Trump has literally broken many of their brains.

How does the fake electors thing work? Serious question, were the "fake electors" alternate electors in case one of the lawsuits filed on Trump's behalf was successful or were they planning on somehow slipping their votes into the system?
