The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

I simply pointed out I was too young to remember his campaign or anyone ridiculing him over his family values. I do remember the adults complaining about him and being happy when he was gone. How is that disparaging?
I believe your words were more like.......
I'm too young to remember much about Carter's campaign, I just remember the bitching about how bad he sucked and the joy the adults had when he was thrown out of office.

Is a candidate compelled to use campaign funds for their political expenses? A wealthy candidate cannot simply fund their own expenses rather than run it through the campaign?
I think it still must be reported as a campaign expenditure.

Ron DeSantis' nightmare scenario: How the Florida governor could become the man who signs Donald Trump's arrest warrant if former president refuses to go to New York voluntarily to face charges

If a New York grand jury indicts Donald Trump in connection with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, it could deliver another twist to the bitter rivalry between the former president and his likely rival for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

For if Trump refuses to travel from his Mar-a-Lago home to surrender voluntarily to police in Manhattan, it would fall to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to sign a local arrest warrant.

The situation may be hypothetical but it is one of the potential scenarios that could play out if the nation enters the uncharted territory of a former president — and a current presidential candidate — being indicted.

The FBI and US Marshals can arrest state fugitives and felons if approved by the AG.

U.S. Marshals, including FBI agents serving as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals, have authority under 28 U.S.C. § 566(e)(1)(B) to investigate and pursue fugitives wanted under state felony warrants whenever such action is undertaken pursuant to a special apprehension program approved by the Attorney General.

My father explained to me that Jimmy Carter was a good man. He created more Republicans than anyone else in his lifetime.
I can see that. Long term thinking, doing what was right......didn't go over well with many. Plus we can't really ignore the great white flight.....and not just from neighborhoods impacted by desegregation.

This is what I found:
Daniels payment was indicative of falsifying business records, a misdemeanor that he says could potentially be charged as a felony under New York law if intended to conceal a second crime: in this case, an alleged illegal campaign contribution.
There are some gymnastics going on here. No doubt. However, one fundamental truth will be established: Donald Trump directed Michael Cohen to pay a stripper hush money and obtain an NDA to keep her from hurting his 2016 campaign. PERIOD

I voted for Carter in '76 & he was the last Democrat I ever voted for. They're scumbags.
Here's a mental exercise maybe worth taking:
You ask 1,000 randomly selected republicans, "Do you feel that the democratic party is trying to destroy America?"

You ask 1,000 randomly selected democrats, "Do you feel that the republican party is trying to destroy America?"

What would be your estimates of the the results?
Republicans: _______% would answer yes.
Democrats: _______% would answer yes.

Gonna be quite the scene man.

Makes sense.
Going through campaign is public record, I assume.
Yeah I think the idea is that exactly what happened shouldn’t be allowed. If you were raw dogging a porn star while your wife was preggers, you shouldn’t be able to hide that from public scrutiny in a campaign to represent the public.

It also prevents skirting the personal contributions limits.

I’m not sure the rule really works. IIRC, Trump’s 2020 campaign was basically funneling all of its expenses through one vendor so you couldn’t see where the money was going. That vendor could have paid off an entire production company worth of porn stars and I’m not sure how anybody would have known. So, of all the things Trump did, this one feels pretty flimsy.

Absolutely 100% correct, no doubt about that. Still not a crime unless the funds came out of the campaign.
