The Masters

All of Ken Schofield's insistance last night that McIlroy would be immune to the pressure today just adds to his long list of completely wrong Euro homer predictions, dude gets on my nerves.

Schofield now chiming in with the "perhaps I underestimated the pressure of Masters Sunday on young Rory" statement....gee, really Ken ?

From the range:

Tiger is moving back toward the top tier of ball hitters

Phil is crooked, and awfully so at times

Daye and McIlroy have beautiful swings, as do Schwartzel and Scott. Have pushed Goosen to the back burner.

Woods now shapes the ball more than about anyone. His shot on 6 yesterday is why he'll get back, even with a decent putter. His chipping has probably taken the biggest slide. He hit some shots, all week, that were baffling.

Cabrera hits the ball higher than everyone else and moves it both ways at will. Can flat out hit the golfball with anyone.

Allenby hits that little draw, but the damn line and trajectory never freaking change. It isn't pretty, but it's damn solid. His pal Allenby has a very simple and strong swing. Neither can putt, even on the practice green.

Adam Scott walks like a girl, swings like Tiger used to.

I said ot yesterday and i'll say it again. People have no idea how great that shot was. To be able to rope hook one on there like that and be able to cut the snot out of one like he did into 18 on Friday tells me that he's back.

I don't know if he's back, but he sure had that look in his eyes yesterday...

He may very well be back, or close to it, but I'll have to see it somewhere else before I'll believe it. There's just something about Augusta that agrees with him and always brings out the best in him. Even last year he played fairly well in the Masters and looked pretty awful, at least by his standards, just about everywhere else.

He may be a Euro homer, but he gave the ultimate props the the PGA tour by saying it was where the players have to prove themselves if they are going to be considered one of the best

true, but his swing looks better now than it did at any point last year.

I can understand if and why people may not care for lefty, but any argument that he is phony is offbase.

If you don't think he is phony, then what is it you understand as to why people don't care for him?

There is a reason why Phil was in the top ten for most disliked by their peers. I certainly don't know him personally, but I wonder what it could be about him as to why he isn't liked in the locker room

Can we all agree that Ian Poulter needs to keep his freaking trap shut until he at least does one thing in his entire career worthy of a top echelon player?

Good stuff. I can't get over Cabrera. Dude absolutely nukes tbe ball. If he had any kind of short game, he'd win all kinds of tournaments in America, where the courses are set up perfectly for his style of play.

People should keep in mind that Tiger would have needed 63 (tying the course record) to get in a playoff, 62 to win outright. Granted, if he makes a couple more birdies on the back nine, maybe Schwartzel, Scott, Day, etc. choke a bit.

The fact of the matter is that there's just more people now than ever who can flat out PLAY. That's why I think Tiger is going to be the last of the big-time major championship winners. There's not enough majors to go around for Rory, McDowell, Dustin Johnson, A.K., Schwartzel, Day, Bubba, and a list of maybe 10-15 others who are young and have tons of game and are all capable of winning one. In Tiger's prime, you didn't have this level of talent. You had Phil, who didn't start winning majors until more recently, you had Vijay who had a hell of a run for a year and a half, and you had Ernie Els. That's about it.

Same reasons some people don't like Peyton Manning. Envy and jealosy being two. Plus, I have the capability to understand "different strokes for different folks", unlike some. I don't think some of you understand what the word phony means. His support of his wife, kids, and charities don't make him a phony to me. He also has the utmost respect for the game of golf and it's storied history. What makes him phony? Because he forces smiles? A double life? Is he too loyal? What defines his phonyness? Please, let me hear the answers from people that have never met him or met anyone that personally knows him.

Actually, Cabrera has a fine short game. He has some of the best hands around the greens out there

I didn't say he was phony. I guarantee you the reasons people may not like Peyton are not the same reasons people don't like Phil. Peyton isn't disliked by his peers. Phil IS disliked by his peers. You couldn't have made a more inappropriate comparison. I know exactly what phony means. Like I said, I don't know Phil and don't know if he is phony, but I do know some other tour players and I can tell you, flat out, none of them are jealous of Phil. I personally like Phil as a player and the person we see away from golf

If you know tour players that don't like Phil and its guaranteed by you to not from envy, why are you on a vol board asking people you don't know what the deal is? Why don't you just ask your buddies why?

I stated the guys I know who have played the tour ARE NOT jealous of Phil. Did I say they didn't like him?

:birgits_giggle: The last thing on my mind when I see one of the guys is asking him whether or not he likes Phil

It blows my mind how people wring their hands over how athletes answer questions. Tiger is getting killed for not pretending that he wasn't pissed off in the post round interview. I get that he was curt, but people are acting as if he told Bill Macatee that he was stupid and then kicked him in the groin.

Conversation about Mickelson is funny. Dude's nickname was given by his peers and they aren't joking. Maybe some of it's jealousy, but most of those guys have it good enough that they don't care about Phil's.
