Figjam is the name and it's a running, prodding joke. He's got the family, wife, pilot's license, endorsements and was born into a pristine life on the course. He's probably behind only Tiger in winnings and he makes some other players look bad because he deals with the fans and media (see tiger getting badgered for being short, though I'd probably do the same) better than most. Some jealousy and animosity is naturally there. Again, I'm not arguing that some may or may not like him. That's a given. Hell, he's still considered a choke artist by some and people don't like choke artists. The word phony was brought up and imo, that doesn't apply.

The word phony has been used over ad over by those who know him. Recent changes don't diminish that most who knew him and his popped collar thought he was a pretentious douchebag mugging for cameras.

I read the article in the link above. It quotes Hunter Mahan talking about how he was warned by others in the clubhouse when he turned pro that Phil was a phony.

He said he got to know Phil himself rather than take others word for it. Ends with saying Phil is not a phony, but he is goofy.

Case in point: He sinks that putt on 18 to win his first Masters and his first Major. 100 % of everyone else on the plant would utter "holy sh++" or its equivalent when that putt dropped if in Phil's place.

Phil, in complete doofus like fashion, says "Oh my goodness." I think he is just a goofball.

Phil is my favorite golfer of all time. I still haven't gotten over Winged Foot.

I reserve judgement on anybody. I thought Freddy was cool until I met him in person being a d**k. Fwiw tiger signed my hat as he was leaving the course a few years back & I was the last 1 he signed. I knocked a couple kids over but I'm sure they're ok.
