BPV what clubs did you say you have, and why would anyone pay 150 dollars for a putter?
I hit MacGregor V-foil PMB 675 irons. Vokey 200 series wedges, Bridgestone hybrid 2I, Callaway Tour X 15 deg 3 wood, Taylor Made 510 TP driver, Mizuno Bettinardi Black Carbon BC-2 putter.

I'd like to think that people pay high dollar for putters because they help them make putts, but most do it to look good in the clubhouse by having bought legitimacy.

There is nothing about my set that suggests legitimacy (except that my putter is expensive, but nobody's heard of mine). World is full of high dollar golf sacks that haven't seen the south side of 90.

Holla. When I got my first real job I was dead set on buying a set of Taylor Made irons. Walked into the store...hit a few with them...walked around picked up some Nicklaus irons swung them and loved them. Bought the Nicklaus clubs...still haven't seen the south of 90 on 18 holes. But that is cause I don't play enough.

on a sidenote, it's been a big month for CBS......roll right out of March Madness in to the Masters....
Cha ching!

with it soft(er), Tiger's odds go way up. Weir type guys are not going to win if the fairways aren't rolling.

Soft actually limits the potential winners to about 10 guys.

As you know BPV, they can make that sucker dry and fast in a hurry. I'm not expecting white flag greens come friday...

they can dry the greens out relatively quickly, but the fairways just don't start running the same. The back 9 will be brutal for the Justin Leonards of the world.

Headed down tomorrow. Can't post from the course, but I'll try and let you know what I see in the evenings.

The game Sat is best ball 4 man. We finished 2nd last year so lets see if we can get #1 this year. I will hit a 300 yard drive in BPVs honor:)

your chances will be much better if you make a couple of 15 footers, and that, my friend, is why people pay up for putters.

1. What distance would a average golfer hit his driver?

2.I would rather have slower swing speed for conbtrol so should I club up to make up the difference?

3.Best way to read a green for putting is? Tips

1. I have no idea and you'll be better off if you just don't care.

2. It's weak, but it really depends. Slowing down is an automatic collapse over the top style ugly hook for many golfers, even very good ones. If you're just starting, you should probably overclub until the point that you notice you're missing greens long, which is probably a while away.

3. There is no best way to read greens. I've always tried to find what Johnny Miller calls the fall line. Essentially, that's the line along which water will drain away in both directions, but it's really no better than any other method. What you should know about putting is that the pace of the putt actually dictates line as much or more than the slope of the green. Hence, early in a long putt when it has some heat on it, it won't break much, but will break considerably more as it slows, given the same slope.

If I were you and in a scramble, I would watch the putter in front of me. If putting first, I would get concensus from the group, putt that line and try my best to help everyone else determine the speed of the putt.

Is shortning up your backswing a good way to have a more controlled swing?
generally, yes. I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about it. Your swing will naturally find it's length over time. Shortening it will be a tempo nightmare unless you've had some time to work at the shorter swat.

We have a guy who can knock the driver well so if people like me can have a decent drive down the middle it allows him to swing out of his shoes for great first ball position. I will try to keep us in good enough shape the better players can take some chances. I am just OK at golf.

he will hit much poorer shots with this approach, so plan on playing the shorter ones quite a bit.

One the the talking heads on TV said the first cut of rough was cut higher than usual, which will help Tiger because of his recent abysmal driving accuracy. Said it will hold balls instead of them going into the trees/creek.
