The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Honest to God, is there a single, intelligent Vanderbilt fan out there? I know they're few and far between, but jeez, they get more ridiculous by the day! I mean they actually said Carta Samuels is not "Vanderbilt Material?!" If anything he was too good for Vandy.

Y'all need to relax about this. Everyone is misunderstanding. I would assume he meant the kid isn't Vanderbilt material because the kid doesn't suck at football.

Too much fun up in this thread. As UT fans we have had our troubled years and it is no fun. But Vandy, just when they thought they were on the precipice of greatness, get's throat chopped and nut jolted all at the same time. And the real sad part may be upcoming this summer if things go to trial.

I'm sure it's been discussed but Vandy's class is over ranked at 76 or whatever it is. They have 11 commitments and 6 are defensive backs. (1) athlete (1) rb (1) wr (2) OL.

NO DL, NO QB, NO TE which they need desperately. The two OL are very average players. pretty brutal class.

I've come to gather that they are by far the most delusional fanbase in the entire country... and its not even close. These past couple years with JF have made it even worse.

They are literally on Vandymania saying Mason is "dominating" the recruiting trail. You can't make this stuff up. That's what happens when you have a Jordan Matthews, he's not an exception to them, he is the norm.. They have a class with about 10 players with whom Vandy is pretty much their best offer... Yet they are all underrated and the next "diamond in the rough." It's insanity.

i saw that. i went over there to see what was being said. they were tlaking about how "hot" they are on the trail. they have lost all their really good players and are filling their class with last minute players flipping from Minnesota. they just lost a battle for a QB who went to ECU lol. i have no idea what they are thinking. pretty entertaining to read. they also called the staff an upgrade but the guy hasnt coached one second at VU. When all your talent leaves you cannot take a blank recruiting class and survive. thats basically what happened to UT. they dont have the talent to sustain a hit like LSU or Bama. its hilarious to me.

I might think it a bit more hilarious if I hadnt just lived through it myself as a Vol fan these past few years :ermm:

If anything, living through our dark times makes Vandy's suffering more hilarious. A long, slow descent into the SEC basement is in order for the Vandy "faithful" for all of their talk about a paradigm shift in the conference.

I feel a little bad for one person at Vandy right now and that's Mason. He is coming into an extremely tough situation barely a month before NSD and losing a significant portion of the recruits committed to Vanderbilt. He seems like a decent guy and certainly not like the one he replaced that won awards for douchebaggery. Anyway...

The fans on the other hand need a wake up call. Every two and three star commit they bring is suddenly the next Jordan Matthews. "A diamond in the rough" they say. But let's face facts, the chances of many athletes going to that level are surprisingly low. But the delusional behavior that the fans exhibit is going a little overboard (no pun intended). And apparently there is still some hope they flip a five star from a big program.

I do feel bad for the situation Mason has been put in. And unfortunately if/when they return to SEC doormat status next year, he will have to shoulder the responsibility as the majority of their delusional fans will have zero concept of how the lack of a single good recruiting class can affect the program in huge ways.

I don't feel bad for that damn idiot at all. What guy leaves a top school, where he has it made, with top talent, to go to a cellar dweller in the hardest conference with like 3 weeks until signing day. How dumb could he possibly be? If it was for more money, then he sold himself out for 3 years until he gets fired and has to go back to being a defensive coordinator. I don't feel bad for him at all. Have fun at that dumpster fire, Derek.

Ironic that the guy who came to OUR dumpster fire was named Derek.

wtf.....no

Mason opted for the situation. And by all appearances, it is woeful. Take a look at the offers Vandy has put out and a vast majority of recruits are showing no interest. Other than the verbals they have (expect that to change), the players have committed elsewhere or have zero to little interest in Vandy. Bless their little hearts, the anchor of smugness is dragging them back to where they belong.

One vandy fan thinks they can beat Oregon now...

I saw a Vandy fan tweeting that because Mason shut down Oregon @ Stanford, he'll be able to do the same at Vandy.

That would be like us in 2009 saying that because Monte Kiffin shut down the New England Patriots once, he would be able to easily shut down every college offense.

some guy on their 247 board said they are loaded with young talent and appear to have a more talented staff than most NFL teams. no kiddin. thats verbatim what he said. they have had like 1 top 25 class and a top 30 class sandwiched btw two horrible classes. i dont get how they think they have all this talent that they can pronounce themselves as being "loaded". he went on about having 21 redshirt freshman but realistically some of those will be solid and then there will be several more than likely who never contribute anything. happens everywhere

ranked #85 now on rivals

Just dropped to #86. The anchor is about down. If Sherfield or Smith abandon ship, the General has rightfully smitten the Commodore to Davy Jones locker for years to come. The smug puggers have earned their commuppance.
General Neyland, I salute you. Sir.

Damn it's fun strolling down thee vaundemaunia websicle. They are tearing Jordan Rodgers apart about his twitter tirade. All I have to say is that Rodgers is a true reflection of the fan(s) that supported him. But don't support him now. Oh Vandy, your BB gun is out of BB's.

just too bad about all this. just too bad. 5 vandy families on my son's team and there has been no black and gold since he left. and no comments either, except for me asking one dad if the recruits jf is trying to get to PSU would be settling in life for not going to Vandy.
