The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Mania is a state of abnormally elevated or irritable mood, arousal, and/or energy levels.[1] In a sense, it is the opposite of depression. Mania is a necessary symptom for certain psychiatric diagnoses. The word derives from the Greek μανία (mania), "madness, frenzy"[2] and that from the verb μαίνομαι (mainomai), "to be mad, to rage, to be furious".[3]
In addition to mood disorders, persons may exhibit manic behaviour because of drug intoxication (notably stimulants, such as cocaine and methamphetamine), medication side effects (notably steroids and SSRIs), and malignancy. But mania is most often associated with bipolar disorder, where episodes of mania may alternate with episodes of major depression. Gelder, Mayou, and Geddes (2005) suggest that it is vital that mania be predicted in the early stages because otherwise the patient becomes reluctant to comply with the treatment. The criteria for bipolar disorder do not include depressive episodes, and the presence of mania in the absence of depressive episodes is sufficient for a diagnosis. Regardless, those who never experience depression also experience cyclical changes in mood. These cycles are often affected by changes in sleep cycle (too much or too little), diurnal rhythms, and environmental stressors.
Mania varies in intensity, from mild mania (hypomania) to full-blown mania with extreme energy, psychotic features, including hallucinations, delusion of grandeur, suspiciousness, catatonic behaviour, aggression, and a preoccupation with thoughts and schemes that may lead to self-neglect.[4] Standardized tools such as Altman Self-Rating Mania Scale[5] and Young Mania Rating Scale[6] can be used to measure severity of manic episodes. Because mania and hypomania have also been associated with creativity and artistic talent,[7] it is not always the case that the clearly manic bipolar person needs or wants medical help; such persons often either retain sufficient self-control to function normally or are unaware that they have "gone manic" severely enough to be committed or to commit themselves. Manic persons often can be mistaken for being on drugs or other mind-altering substances.

It is funny. As large as a draw as they potentially have, Vandymania is a freaking joke. The latest delusional thread is that they feel they will be fighting UGA for the SEC east championship this year. I guess no one told them that their entire offense (Mathews) is gone. No one told them that they have absolutely no wide receivers but a couple of true freshman. No one told them that switching to a 3-4 requires the right type of players. No one told them that Burris(?) and a couple of others just dropped out of sight. No one told them that the ship has been righted and that they are vandy. The best comment was that they compared our record vs ga for the past ten years, then someone compared their record vs UT for the past 10 years. I think yates shut the thread down at that point. Funnymania. Foolishmania. Whatever, UT needs, really needs to demolish that insolent little group over at west end for the next x amount of years.

moving to a 3-4 will be brutal for them for many reasons.every productive DE they have are moving to new postitions which is OLB. most of them have never played standing up at all. you have a brand new secondary with all young players sophomores and freshman adjusting to a new scheme. Theres not a lot of DT depth to plug the middle. they have one or 2 guys that will be serviceable there. Woestmann and Azubike are the best players and they are moving to postions they havent played while having a brand spanking new secondary behind them. if they cant stop the run very well they will get eaten alive on the pass game with that new secondary. i dont see the personnel to run this defense and i think it ends badly.

They seem convinced that Vandy is...

- the 'new found conference power'

- that they will win 9-10 games this year,

- on their way to top tier bowls. Apparently Vandy deserved to be in the Capitol One, Outback, etc the past couple of years, but "just didn't get 'em".

And they are mapping out their path to Atlanta in this gem below...

" Re: Who else thinks we win the East next year?

Is it possible Clemson decides the SEC East? I know head-to-head SEC games are supposed to be the main factor in a tie breaker - someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is an exception where Slive can choose a higher ranked team with the same conference record to represent a division in Atlanta so say Georgia is 6-2 but 9-3 overall with a loss to Clemson and say Vandy is sitting at 6-2 10-2 but with a loss at Georgia do we have a chance to go? Same scenario with So. Carolina except that would be a home game for us."

I hope their expectations are sky high before the season. It'll make the fall back to reality more painful and, for us, amusing.

That last part just looks like it's an uninformed fan (/ one who doesn't understand or know the tiebreaker rules ) though.

Yes, that article was funny but he's no worse than a majority of UT or any other school's fans. UT has won squat on the fields or courts in forever and were popping champagne bottles over a football recruiting class. Yates is just make the Vandy supporters feel better no matter how stupid that article was.

Are you including our women's teams in this? Our softball program is easily one of the top ten in the country and was a national runner up last year and our basketball team should be a #1 seed in the upcoming tournament and won back to back titles in '07 and '08 (not last year but not exactly the Dark Ages either).

Good grief. Have they ever won the East? Losing your coach and and a lot of starters rarely results in accomplishing something you've never accomplished the following season.

The last football conference championship for Vandy was the 1923 Southern Conference Championship. Vandy went 5-2-1 and 3-0-1 in Conference.

I'm sure Vandy is enjoying our meltdown today.

I don't know what they're laughing about. For a long time, they excused their pathetic football team by calling themselves a "basketball school." And yet... UT has just as many Elite Eight and Sweet 16 appearances. UT also has more conference championships than those wankers on West End.

Fun Fact: Vanderbilt has had a winning SEC record exactly once in the last 30 years.

So the answer is no.

Did you really not know this? They didn't win it in any of Franklin's years, and before that they had 1 winning season in 2008 which was 7-6, and before that you have to go back to 1982 for their last winning season. And that was well before the division split.

Given how they've flipped out over a Liberty Bowl, a Music City Bowl, and a BBVA Compass Bowl, if they had won the East at any time, we've never hear the end of it.

Vandy fans don't seem the types who would waste time posting on these type message boards.........

Uhhhhhh...nothing personal...

The meltdown from Pearl going to Auburn in the bb forum rivals anything Vandy has going on. It's gone full retard over there.

I just have a quick question for the vandy mania fans that lurk on here. How sad do you get when you have to return back to your sad excuse for a message board, after visiting this fine lay out?

*Thanks Freak

You'd think they would be smart enough to have a decent layout on their board, being the Vandy fans that they are..... But it just goes to show how stupid they actually are, they know just as little about modern technology as they do about football. How sad.

You can't expect any more out of a team that won their last conference title in 1923(the 1923 Southern Conference title).:eek:lol:
