No, You said that Biden doesn't care about what people think and his responses suggest otherwise. Is the subject whether or not Biden has ever "lashed out" or is it whether or not he has lashed out more than Trump?
I don't think politicians get any more thin-skinned than Trump.... when he was on Twitter he had to respond to every sleight. Even if it was from Cher or Debra Messing. He never took the high road with anybody.
Bush had no control over what happened on 9/11 because that had been in the makings for some time but the decisions he made afterwards are having a negative lasting impact today and have been contorted against us.
I am open minded at this point because I don't know any details. Not even the basics. Surely, if it is going to censor people in any kind of onerous way just based on ideology I will be right here with you, criticizing it.
On the flip side, if it is just going to alert people to manipulative propaganda from foreign actors who want to do us harm, I'd probably be okay with that.
I say probably because I don't know enough about it. And neither does anyone else at this point. I tend not to take my direction from the right wing blogosphere because....
Well someone better let Joe know because I don’t think he got the memo
Joe Biden reportedly told Barack Obama he's running in 2024
He isn't going to run. There will be teases through the end of the year... and then he will announce in January that he isn't running. He is turning 80 in November. There is no way in hell he's running; nor should he.
To date, everything I've seen says their role is to monitor it. I do think DHS would have been better off explaining up front that this will be a working group that assembles reports on deliberate misinformation form hostile foreign actors and make recommendations to Congress and to the Department about how to respond to it. Would not have nearly the fake furor we have at the moment.
Geez, the right wingers are literally falling all over each other to be on the front of the attack on this, to scare people and especially the base that its some type of Orwellian domestic censorship and that is just not the case.
Go back to whining that the administration is not doing enough to combat inflation. While not entirely deserved, it has a kernel of validity to it.
They don’t need (or even want enforcement power).Mind explaining?
Fair. And I agree that what Trump said was stupid and if he had actually tried it I would very much oppose any action in that direction. CNN and anything other outlet can report the news how they like just like those that watch/listen can choose to buy into it or not. Anyone who takes any media outlet at face value is making a mistake but it’s their mistake to make.I'm not concerned about this becoming a means of totalitarian oppression in the manner of Big Brother, but it definitely is a terrible idea, and yet another example of the Biden administration's unfocused agenda and out-of-touch approach towards addressing the important needs of Americans.
You support this MOT right? Not all mainstream media outlets are the same. It's not fair to lump NPR, ABC News, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and The Christian Science Monitor with CNN, MSNBC and Axios.
... and as for the "they lie for Party instead of just reporting the facts" and the "always a spin" critique? Of course, you can say the same thing about right-wing outlets such as Fox News, The Washington Times, Newsmax, One America News and The New York Post. The right should either offer a neutral alternative or shut the hell up about the biased coverage of politics. Their own outlets are not any more objective than the ones from the left that they complain about.
If it’s only aimed at “foreign actors” then why do free speech, civil liberties, and civil rights matter? If you’re talking about Russians spreading misinformation then our free speech laws don’t matter. You just take whatever they say as gospel and don’t even question it. That’s unreal and dumb.To date, everything I've seen says their role is to monitor it. I do think DHS would have been better off explaining up front that this will be a working group that assembles reports on deliberate misinformation form hostile foreign actors and make recommendations to Congress and to the Department about how to respond to it. Ok, now on that I do agree. Trump would’ve been cheered by the right had he started this. There’s no doubt that MSM ran a coordinated effort to oust Trump and these are people that had been Trump’s friends right up until he put “R” next to his name. The coverage of Trump was ridiculous and there’s no way I’d ever trust anything from CNN, MSNBC, etc. after the repeated false stories and clear Democrat activism but I absolutely would not agree with any political starting a MOT.I've been critical of Biden for this. I've said it's a terrible idea, and I explained why. I just happen to have my doubts that a government department which sought to curtail disinformation in the public domain, would be denounced by Republicans if it was opened by the Trump administration. Trump spent 4 years attacking the press and calling every article that was critical of him "fake news." Republicans spent 4 years either defending him for that, or in silence.
