Amen brother. How much longer will we hear Tom Carnegie (sp?).

I sat in the rain one year listening to him interview driver after driver over the track PA. Good stuff.

i'm only going to have enough time off work for the race. had i not gone to Talladega, i'd have had more. i think my dad is practically going to come home this month to get me, and then go back up there.

they don't let Tom Carnegie talk that much anymore, for obvious reasons if you've heard him in the last few year.

this marks my 15th vistit to the famed Brickyard and the old man and uncle's 47th.

tid, i know you started an IRL thread, but the Indy 500 is worthy of a thread all it's own. and i'm so pumped that this is the first year i'm working days full time so i'll be able to come home and watch the live daily show on ESPN2.

Completely understandable. It has its own month, it can certainly have its own thread. :rock2:

he probably wrecked soon after that. he was fast but was a loose cannon.

Tomas has Robby Gordon disease- million dollar talent, five cent head.

I don't care what he did after that, that was a sweet move.

Agree with ya though. From what I've read he's been compared to Montoya as far as being aggressive.

oh yeah, definitely a sweet move.

the difference between Montoya and Tomas is a vist to victory lane at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. i believe Tomas has only finished the race once.

one year, driving for Eddie Cheever (i think) he had the fielfd just about blown away, only to wreck leading the race.

I remember that race. 2003, I think. That was back when the 500 was about the only IRL race I'd watch each year. I'd never heard of him until the 500 that year and he proceeded to lead about 3/4ths of it.

I believe the Montoya comparison was not only in driving style, but apparently Scheckter was coming up through the F1 ranks before being arrested for being involved in some kind of "brothel" in Monaco years ago.

he's the son of a former World Champion.

Jaguar Racing did him a favor for firing him for that incident. that F1 team was horendous.

i find it kind of humerous that Andretti's name is on there, considering he's the guy who has led the most laps ever at Indy without a winning a race.

perhaps my 16th reason to love the month of May is hearing "and Michael is slowing down" over the PA with a few laps to go.

actually, i remember telling my buddy during the race last year with 10-15 to go, that i wouldn't mind seeing Michael win it last year. then Marco passed him like he was standing still, i told my buddy Marco would be cool too.

and them my boy Sammy came out of nowhere and stole the victory away from both of them...

...and suddenly, with a Marlboro Team Penske car in victory lane at Indy, all was right in the world again.

That was insane. I thought Hornish when he fell back from Marco after that first run he made at him.

Then out of 3 and 4 he came... :eek:hmy:

Hornish was the guy I'd pull for whenever I'd casually watch the IndyCar races since he was driving a Chevy engine for that Panther team. I was glad to see him get a ride with one of the top teams.

Hornish not getting a top ride would have been a travesty, especially when he was winning titles with Panther and a Chevy driver. the guy can drive a race car.

i was a little dissapointed to see him go out in an accident during the Busch race on Friday night. i was curious to see what he had for those guys.

anyway, found this article on ESPN.com looking for a TV schedule that tells me when the daily live show from IMS comes on (which, i can't find):

i like Sammy because he's cut from the same Rick Mears type mold. and Mears is my driver all-time #1 guy. always.

i bet it doesn't come on because of NASCAR now.

you have to be kidding me.

ABC/ESPN's promotion of the IRL has been pretty scarce since they've started covering NASCAR again. Gotta figure they'll at least do a few ads/commercials for the 500, but I have yet to see any...
