yes, kind of. it's also this Saturday and Sunday as well.

91st Indianapolis 500
Qualifying speeds are determined by the aggregate time and average speed for four laps around the historic 2.5-mile oval. Each car, primary or backup, has three attempts per day to qualify. Entrants also can withdraw qualified cars from the field at their choice, but that car still will be allowed to make qualifying attempts based on the number of attempts it has remaining for the day.
AAMCO Transmissions Pole Award and Qualifications
Positions 1-11 in the field are available to the fastest qualifiers. Once the 11 spots are full, bumping will occur for the remainder of the day to determine the pole winner and fastest 11 qualifiers.
Second Day Qualifying
Positions 12-22 are available. Once those spots are full, bumping will occur only for those spots only the remainder of the day.
Third Day Qualifying
Remainder of the field is available. Once those spots are full, bumping will occur for those spots only the remainder of the day.
Bump Day
Any qualifying attempt on the fourth day that is faster than a qualified entrant in the starting field will bump the slowest qualifier, regardless of the day of qualification. The “bumped” entrant is removed from the field, but has the opportunity to bump its way back into the starting field as time allows

Qualifying begins tomorrow 12PM EST on ESPN2. It switches over to ABC at 3PM EST and back to EPSN2 at 6PM EST.

Comes on again Sunday at 12PM EST on ESPN2.

They'll have Bump Day next weekend, I believe.

Bump day is the best, unless they only have 33 cars I hope they can have more than 33 cars to make it worth something.

Oh yeah. I wish that link would give info as to how many runs they've made. Probably just one for most of them since not everyone has made a qualifying run just yet. I'm not really familiar with IRL's qualifying process, especially for the 500, but I wonder if it matters when they go out or what order after they've made one run.

when there's nobody in the tech line, the track is open for practice. as soon as you're ready to qualify, you push your car into tech and they check your car and clear the track for you.

Ah, ok. I brought up that timing and scoring link and it said some guys had ran over 25 and 30 laps. Didn't realize the track was open for practice when no one was qualifying. Cool stuff.

Well, since the action is about to pick up, I'll go watch it.
